The Breakfast Club
I'm so tired waiting for a SE of this movie. This movie is a big time classic, and after two releases, still haven't got any real extras! What is with Universal?
What I want for a SE: Commentary with the Cast. Commentary with Director John Hughes. Retro Documentary shot during the making of the movie. A "Looking Back" Documentary, which is at least 45 minutes long. Deleted Scenes. . |
that's nice.

I would like a lot of things, but I really want this bad.
|
I've got it in the High School Reunion collection, with Weird Science and Sixteen Candles. Good enough for me.
|
This film has 2 editions on dvd, I understand that you want a better version really bad, but some of my top 50 favorite films (1492: Conquest Of Paradise, Lost Highway, The Air Up There, etc) haven't even been touched on dvd by their rightful studios. I think a better edition would be good, but it is already available and you should be happy with it. I love this film, have it on dvd, but at least you have, what I think is one of your favorite films on dvd at least. So you gotta be happy with that!

I'll take the original theatrical music over extras.
|
And it's got DTS sound. Good enough for me in the time being. Extras would be nice though.

The Air Up There? You're the guy that bought that ticket? |
I recall reading that John Hughes doesn't want to do any commentaries.

This film is tailor-made for a Special Edition. It's hugely popular, a sentimental favorite, and was on the forefront of the entire '80 teen comedy genre. Plus none of the stars are too "big" now to make them inaccessible (or overly expensive) to recruit for interviews, commentaries, etc. This also seems like the ultimate film for one of those "reunion" documentaries (along with maybe American Graffiti and Fast Times at Ridgemont High). It's definitely overdue for a little TLC (Sixteen Candles and Ferris Bueller too).

The original releases on home video had replaced music. The new DVD has the original music...licensed once again for the film.
I fear that if Universal Home Video were to get the clearance for the AMC Backstory special that the original music would be replaced again. By the way, most of the original cast reunited on the MTV 2005 Movie Awards. The only men missing were Judd Nelson and Emilio Estevez. |
If a DVD was ever relased with those special features, I bet the could charge an MSRP of $39.99 and still sell more copies than they ever imaged.
|
I'd plunk down the money for an SE of this.
