Bill and Teds Excellent Collection RECALLED!!!

Just found out from my video store that they got a memo telling them that the Bill and Ted box set (RECENT RELEASE) is being recalled due to "an incorrect phone number on the packaging".

Don't quite know what that means but they had pulled them all off the shelves when I got in.

Get 'em now, folks.

Skoobooz 07-19-05 04:57 PM

Huh...I don't see any phone number on the packaging. Strange....

RyoHazuki 07-19-05 04:59 PM

Theres a phone number on the top but its a 555 number. I don't see why that would be a problem.

lol this is most definitly not true! remember the KINSEY rumor? i think moderators should stop those from posting now...

emachine12 07-19-05 05:07 PM

The number is at the top of the box and asks "How's My Time Travelin'?"

I called it and got something I did not expect but it was funny to hear the number work.

Skoobooz 07-19-05 05:26 PM

Wow, that's funny. There is indeed a number on the top of the box, and it really does work....

The problem is obviously because it's a 1-800-555 number instead of just being 555.

Seeing as how I am an employee at said video store, read the memo after I made the post and will expect confirmation by our MGM supplier by next week after I personally pulled the remaining titles at their request I can state that this information is on the level.

This reminds me of the Michael Jackson barcode debacle of the 80s or 867-5309. :p

RyoHazuki 07-19-05 05:43 PM

I guess he's right. I just called the number (1-800-555-6969) and got this message:

"Ooh baby. A nasty girl like me needs a little variety in my quest for pleasure.Oh I know your just the one to give it to me."

Did you reply with "Most excellent!"?

Neat. I just picked up a copy on Friday.

I got the set on Tuesday, when it originally came out, if the number is an active number, they have to recall the set, it's that simple. I don't know the whole story, but, what morons over there at MGM for not checking to see if the number was active or not. I think it's wise for people to get em' while they are still out, as if it is not released again, the set will be highly collectible for the packaging and bonus disc. Some will probably not be recalled though, unless MGM goes insane with the recall.

Nobody noticed my pun with re-CALLED.

You should have offered to be her Wyld Stallyn.

dsa_shea 07-19-05 08:10 PM

You can call the number and show them what kind of a Wyld Stallion you really are.

What do these companies do with DVDs that are recalled like this? Are they destroyed, or do they keep them for some reason?

They give them to disadvantaged youth.

ViewAskewbian 07-19-05 10:39 PM

Coasters. Thousands of them. 90% of them Universal discs. :p

I went ahead and went to WalMart when I saw this thread to buy a set for me and one for my cousin. We've both been waiting for this set for a long time.

I wonder how long it'll take to have it be rereleased.

Only numbers 555-0100 through 555-0199 are set aside for dramatic use. Toll free numbers never had 555 fictional numbers. It used to be that local 555 numbers were all unassigned but now they are all real numbers. Here's a list of 555 numbers.

I don't understand how they could let this little error slip by. It's almost like some goof somehow slipped it end right at the end of putting it together.

I think the art department working on the box art was trying to tie in with the number that Bill and Ted were thinking in Excellent Adventure. Problem is, it looks like someone forgot to check to see if it was a dead number.

Cameron 07-20-05 01:17 AM

What number am i thinking of.

surfingelectrod 07-20-05 01:41 AM

69, dude!
