Thanks for the info! I'd heard the rumours but didn't know if it was actually going ahead. This is one show that finished before it's time.

MasterofDVD 07-16-05 07:59 PM

I am very happy to hear that they are going ahead with the movie(s). This makes me happier than the return of Family Guy to TV.

I agree entirely. Though I enjoy the random nature of Family Guy, I preferred the larger story arc of Futurama. Great to hear about this.

b0bafett 07-16-05 08:18 PM

I wasn't into Futurama during its initial run....I only got into it after it was already cancelled, same with Family Guy. FG is my favorite, Stewie rules!

Great news. Maybe they can just start releasing OVAs like they do in Japan. If it gets back on Fox, they'll only screw with it again.

awesome!!

Great news, out of all the comedy-cartoons I think Futurama will make the best show since it can hold a great storyline.

Maxflier 07-16-05 11:01 PM

Futurama rules,this is awesome news!

Joe Molotov 07-16-05 11:27 PM

Oh wow, this is great! I am totally geeking-out right now. I not only love Futurama, it may actually be my favorite show ever. I'm not into TV-on-DVD, but I actually imported seasons of Futurama from the UK before they were released over here and have now seen every episode at least twice. At this point I was even buying Futurama comics to get my fix, and they were not doing it.

New sig in honor of the occasion. :)

Best news in a freaking long time!

Excellent news.

EXcellent news. I remember reading about the idea being tossed around a while back, but am glad to finally hear confirmation. Futurama is a great series and they have so many ideas to work with for a full movie, plus many story elements to continue.

UAIOE 07-17-05 03:49 AM

Even though FOX will forever be on my shitlist, i'll support "Futurama" till the end.

Bring on the movies!

T.Bickle 07-17-05 04:09 AM

I think Futurama is the best domestic animated series ever, even better than Groening's own Simpsons in my opinion. I have the entire original run of Family Guy on DVD and it's worth a chuckle but the new episodes are so ridiculously overwritten and completely unfunny. American Dad is even worse. I don't know why Seth MacFarlane still has a job.

Shannon Nutt 07-17-05 07:54 AM

I think we're going to see more and more of these kinds of things for TV shows...I keep waiting for the day when someone produces a series for DVD FIRST, and then TV airing LATER.

And speak for yourself, Bickle - I think the new Family Guy episodes are a riot...it's The Simpsons that I think have worn out their welcome. I don't find American Dad funny at all, so we agree there.

No doubt I'll be picking this up.

BTW, what does OVA stand for?

I still can't understand why FOX cancelled Futurama... yet continues to renew that piece of crap King of the Hill. I have never once laughed at that show. Mike Judge must have something on one of the FOX execs.

Original Video Animation. Direct-to-video anime, basically. (Note that direct-to-video doesn't have the same stigma in Japan as it does in the U.S., since the higher VHS/LD/DVD prices mean OVAs have fairly decent budgets behind them.)

I 2nd that. I'd rather have Family Guy than not, but Futurama to me, was always a superior show.

Heartagram 07-17-05 10:45 PM

Great News, This show certainley ended before its time.

nope...gotta toss in.

I like King of the Hill. Its a totally different viewpoint than many sitcoms. Not nearly has TOON filled as family guy, simpsons, or futurama. Nothing over the top happens, nothing happens that couldn't happen in real life. Its the white men of middle america show. They show a solid view point while poking fun at their own shortcomings.

just remember
