Sorry, but it had to be said. I'm just being honest.

Me too, to be perfectly honest. That said, they had their impact on their respective genre. Welle's gave us visual narrative, and Mike Judge opened the door for "South Park".

The main issue I have with these cuts is that they seem so arbitrary. Yes, there is some immature/inappropriate humor in there. But isn't that what B&B is all about? Why edit one line and not the other 50 that are just as 'bad'?
This "retrospective editing" idea is really worrisome. I'm just hoping we don't get to the point where every artist feels the need to go back and redo their 'mistakes'.

well from the dvdtoons review,
Unfortunately for those who have been listening to that rock music too loudly for the past decade, closed captioning is not available.
----------------------------------------------------
Slim chance there will be subtitles. I would assume it would of been mentioned in the review if there were.
I have a couple hard of hearing dvd freaks in my family. This stinks because this is one of the highly anticipated releases.
So any chance of reading Beavis and butthead's lips? This would be so funny if it wasn't so pathetic because my brother can read lips pretty well. But somehow i think this will be a tough act to follow to read Beavis and Butthead's lips. What in the world was Mike Judge thinking?
It's one thing if this was a rush job, but all i hear after the history recall is that Mike wants to make this one right for god knows how many reasons. So this wasn't rushed. So subtitles(which is about an standard on most dvds today as it is) wasn't important?
Again, what was Mike Judge thinking??
Sorry if people know from some of my past posts over the years, it's the one major gripe i have.

Rainet, it is indeed strange that in this day and age subtitles aren't the norm on DVDs. It seems like such an easy feature to add to allow hard of hearing people to enjoy movies and TV shows on DVD.

We should not just lie down and accept random editing just because it's "finally out". I'm starting to respect Judge less and less these days. What with the neutered Office Space DVD, and now these seemingly pointless cuts. If they're intentional, Judge is going nuts. If they're from lazy QC, then Judge is lazy for not making them find the complete tapes. A "source" was mentioned above, if Paramount didn't have the full tapes, maybe they could have used that "source" to complete their episodes?
Cliche or not, no uncut eps=no sale. There's far more DVDs out there without these problems for me to spend my money on.

It seems like Judge was holding Paramount ransom, pretty much telling them that they have to release them like this or he wouldn't let them release the show at all. Paramount has already proven themselves in my eyes with The History of Beavis and Butthead DVD.

* Blackout! - The edit in the DC here is basically necessary, since the music videos aren't in the episode. As aired, B&B are watching a movie, then switch to a video, then back to the movie. The DC starts after where the music video would have been, so what's missing is the first segment of the movie that the boys are watching.

I passed on the Time Life set of 6 about a month ago at a pawn shop for $24. Somewhat regretting it now, just to have every Beavis and Butthead DVD possible. Did find "Innocense Lost/Chicks N Stuff" for $5 today, though. It's a start.

I'd imagine it would be difficult to retrain your voice to do Beavis again. I'd imagine if South Park was gone for 10 years and then came back, all of Trey Parker's voices would sound about the same except for Cartman.

I think both are unique, and completely different from one another.
Except for the third dvd with extras, it sports the same artwork. The menus though on The History of B&B are not as advanced as on MJVol.1, but they are better, at least IMO they are. What a shame that Mike Judge recalled this first set, he could have done what he did either way.

"The Crush" has 5 edits. 3 of them are from news stories B&B are watching with some dialogue edited out.
1. "And now it appears that the explosion not only killed everyone inside the building.."
2. "And authorities say there simply hasn't been a bridge disaster like this in all of human history."
3. "These are simple folk like you and me who bargained for nothing more than an afternoon of tractor pull excitement."
4. Here's a big edit. B&B are sitting outside Qwik-mart, Beavis eats a roach that's in his nachos. He chews it and sucks it into his mouth. The whole thing was taken out, the roach no longer exists. What a shame.
5. Air guitar was removed after Todd says to be at the park next week.
I compared the Comcast On Demand episode, which is from the new DVD, to my VHS.

Just a line or two of dialogue can make an epsiode memorable for many people. This makes each line much more important for a 5 to 10 minute cartoon that a 90 minute plus movie. There are some episodes of Beavis and Butthead that I distinctly remember 10 years later just because of one line or two.

- It's Sex Ed week. Buzzcut runs thru all the words to make Butthead laugh. Scrotum and clitoris were removed.

* This is listed as one of the director cut episodes, but I couldn't detect anything missing. Some of the timing is tightened up here and there, but there's nothing deleted that I could find.

Lawn & Garden
* New title card.
* The first 40 seconds, where B&B are channel surfing through commericals then call the Injury Hotline, is removed from the DC.
* When Mr. Anderson is questioning if B&B were the ones who stole his lawnmower, etc., in the aired version we're seeing B&B from his point of view which is out of focus. In the DC they are in focus.
* A shot of Anderson drinking a beer and smoking has been shortened, basically for being redundant.
* After cutting down the tree and before B&B start air guitaring, Butt-head singing "Welcome to the Jungle" has been removed.
* This is the first ADDITION I've come across in a DC episode. After Beavis cuts off Butt-head's finger with a chainsaw and they sing "Breaking the Law", the aired episode goes to a music video, where the DC stays on them a little longer and Butt-head says "That was cool".

Beavis is talking to the 911 operator. One bit of dialogue is removed. "Is this one of those 976 numbers? What are you wearing?"
Only 1 edit here, I'm shocked. This is really messed up. I'm done for now..
