Whats to this IMAX ??
 

sorry if I am a little late on knowledge of IMAX, (I've never seen an IMAX presentation), BUT What is the attraction with this format ?? Screen aspect ratio seems almost that of tv from what I've heard, so is the sound or picture that much better?? I am curious and any info would be appreciated

IMAX is the coolest ever.

The IMAX picture is just about the same shape as TV. But the image quality (the image is made up of THREE Todd-AO style 70mm frames) is the sharpest, clearest you will see in a theatre right now. And of course the image is so clear, and the IMAX frame so big, that it can be projected on absolutely enormous screens with no loss of picture quality.

The one problem with IMAX is indeed it's aspect ratio. No matter how big the IMAX screen, I always feel like I'm wearing blinders because of the fairly square aspect ratio. I wish the engineers who designed it had given it a shape of 2:1 instead.
