The Beatles

Colorado's 99.5 FM The Mountain is reporting that a restored version of The Beatles' documentary film Let It Be finally will be released onto DVD this September. In a recent interview with The Mountain's "Breakfast With The Beatles," director Bob Smeaton (The Beatles Anthology, Festival Express) revealed that the oft-rumored disc was delayed due to the long process of sorting through the sheer volume of film that had been shot. The project, which began last year, required an immense amount of film cleaning and color restoration - the results of which will amaze fans. "It will also feature some remarkable bonus material," Smeaton added. Stay tuned for more news as it develops. Thanks to Andrew for the heads-up.

Thanks for the news.
Hopefully there will be a 2nd disc with just the FULL Rooftop performance.

I'll believe this when I'm holding it in my hand.

Was it ever cut?
I've seen "Get Back" from that famous rooftop gig many times on UK TV, was there more?

Ditto.

They've been working on it for a long time though, so who knows?

Wow. Can't wait - definitely one of my most anticipated additions to my collection. YAY!

After this release, they must release the full Shea Stadium concert; the Anthology only has "I'm Down", so I know the footage exists.

Yes, there was more. I know they played a couple of the songs twice during the rooftop concert. It'd be nice to just see the whole thing.

Same here. I've heard this plenty often enough over the years and all I have is a laserdisc version I picked up from a friend in the 80's.

I'll buy this if it comes out, but I already have a bootleg of it.
It's really depressing to see the greatest band ever falling apart.
It's a great historical record, but it's hard to watch.

The Rooftop Concert was about 35 minutes long and the "setlist" is:

Get Back
Get Back #2
Don't Let Me Down
I've Got A Feeling
One After 909
Dig A Pony
I've Got A Feeling #2
Don't Let Me Down #2
Get Back #3

I keep hearing rumors that this may be postponed...but then i read this...

The Beatles Let It Be Heads to DVD
by Paul Cashmere

20 July 2005

The Beatles documentary Let It Be is finally going to be released on DVD.

Apple Records, the company started by The Beatles to produce their music, will release the Let It Be DVD in September.

The disc will also include bonus footage not seen in the movie.

The Let It Be documentary was meant to track the recording of The Beatles in the studio but instead captured the disintegration of the band.

However, the footage is legendary.

The now classic Beatles rooftop appearance was part of the movie. The scene was recently recreated by U2 and was also sent up in the Simpson's Barbershop episode.

Let It Be was produced by Neil Aspinall and directed by Michael Lindsey-Hogg.

It features songs such as Don't Let Me Down, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Two Of Us, I've Got A Feeling, Oh Darling, One After 909, Across The Universe, Dig A Pony, I Me Mine, For You Blue, Besame Mucho, Dig It, Get Back and Let It Be.

That's what she said.

I'll have to pick this one up. The DVD, not what's referenced above.

No...it has 5 songs from Shea
Some of the audio from the Shea show on Anthology is from the Hollywood Bowl show
