I am so buying this DVD the nanosecond it comes out. LOTD is a stellar zombie movie with a pertinent political subtext. My dream set would be 2-discs:
Disc 1. DTS soundtrack, cast and director commentaries. Disc 2 Roy Frumkes's IFC documentary "Dream of the Dead," makeup featurette, trailers, cast and crew interviews, zombie timeline, the film Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg shot on set while they did their cameos |

Meanwhile Land you actually see zombies chomping on people and ripping their flesh from their bones. Along with many severed limbs, guts being pulled out and chomped on etc. Far more grisly than viewing numerous zombies shot in the head...again in the Dawn remake. Land is definitely far more gory and gruesome than both versions of the Dawn remake. So I was shocked to see how much got through with the R rating, and can't wait for even more in the unrated release:D |
The one shot of the zombies pulling apart the arm bothered me more than any of the other gore shots. That hurt just watching it.
I agree that this one had more gore. I do believe that this one had as much gore as the unrated editions of Dawn (original) & Day. However, the on-screen time was probably cut down compared to those 2 earlier flicks. Example: You still saw guts being pulled out, the camera/scene just didn't stay put on it as long. |
True and I'm sure the unrated version will have longer glimpses,as well as the unobscured gore shots...which will equal alot of graphic carnage:)
Still I was not disappointed with the R version at all in terms of gore where I thought "Jee,thats cut..thats cut,so obvious!" and got distracted. Instead I just enjoyed the ride and reacted with "Whoa,I can't believe they showed that!". |

If it's bare bones I'll wait for a purchase (as I've done with Kill Bill). If it's loaded or halfway loaded and cheap it will be mine.
