Arrested Development Season Two?

Has anybody heard even any rumors of this coming out soon? I figured they would have it scheduled for release before season three premiered, but I have seen nothing on this so far.

That premiere is six months away.

Skoobooz 07-04-05 10:57 AM

I hope they don't hold it until around the premiere. But since it hasn't been announced for August or September, it looks like a November/December release. Unfortunate, since I'm desperate to get my hands on more Arrested Development.

Jackskeleton 07-04-05 11:35 AM

Expect it to show up roughly a month before season 3 is on the air. FOX will be showing the episodes on the air through summer, so I figure they dont want to eat into their own ratings.

calhoun07 07-04-05 01:16 PM

I figured they would wait closer for the season three premier, but I just thought they would have announced the title by now. A Q4 release would have an annoucement by now, wouldn't it?

Not necessarily. They've mostly only announced through September and a little into October, with only the "big" titles getting early announcements. It'll probably be announced this month or in August.

I cant wait for the 2nd season...Never watched the 1st season when it was on-air, but picked up the DVD on release day due to all the praise I got from my fellow boardies(thanks guys!), and has since become one of my favorite shows of ALL-TIME!!! Saw a few season 2 episodes and loved them, and was worried when I heard the show may be cancelled, and signed all the various petitions online to save it, and we did!!! Bring on S2 DVD and S3!!!

Heartagram 07-04-05 10:47 PM

trying to steal my thunder i see. Well it doesnt matter anyways since my link is no longer working.

It showed some time in October as a release date

Love the other thread title, BTW.

Fox.com originally had Arrested Developmen Season 3 slated to premier "summer" (which according to an email to tvguide meant an early august premier), but now that they are re-showing all 18 episodes of season two beginning July 29, the third season has obviously been postponed, along with the DVD.

This reshowing is news to me and music to my ears. I hadnt discovered this show on DVD until midway through S2 so i didnt want to jump in halfway through. I was going to catch up quickly before S3 with the DVDs, but now i can watch it on tv. Good times.

No. Sorry about that. I come to the board every day, so I don't know how that one got past me. I tend to read any thread concerning that show!

TVShowsOnDVD.com is reporting that DVD Planet has revealed a date:

"DVDPlanet.com has jumped the gun and posted release information for Arrested Development season 2; Fox hasn't announced the title yet. This 3 disc set will include all 18 episodes for $39.95, but DVDPlanet has it listed for $27.97. More information will come when Fox officially announces the title. DVDPlanet lists it for release on October 11."

Great news!

mifuneral 07-13-05 09:51 PM

Excellent news. Especially since October is somewhat sparce for good releases (imo anyway). that way it won't burden my checkbook too much. ;)

chiguy 07-13-05 10:12 PM

Great news on the DVD release. Although I would have liked it to be released before the September 14th premiere, September is already eating my wallet, too.

mifuneral 07-13-05 10:13 PM

well, it's not official yet so the date could change.

and it could change even if it were official. ;)

Where did you get THAT date? Most likely FOX will not start airing new fall programming until October (and in the case of The Simpsons not until after Halloween:().

Actually, Ain't It Cool News is reporting that date, along with a pre-Halloween start for The Simpsons, shockingly enough.

No need for shady rumor sites. The September premiere date has been officially announced by Fox:

It is essential to watch this show in order, and if season two didn't do a bang-up job in the ratings, perhaps it would be a wise move to put the DVDs out BEFORE the premiere and give people who have never seen the show broadcast (like my friends and me) a chance to catch up. I think many people who have discovered the show on DVD will now watch the third season (and even the second season repeats), who didn't before because they were afraid they'd be lost. The DVDs should -- and likely won't -- come out first.

Skoobooz 07-14-05 02:04 PM

This set is now available for pre-order at Amazon.

Pick up/use your tivo and record season 3 and just not watch them until you can get through the dvd set. Then you can watch both seasons commercial free.

Fox is re-running Season 2 IN ITS ENTIRETY starting at the end of this month (starting the 27th, i think). They dont want to hurt the ratigns on the show by releasing the DVD at the same time.

I am happy to catch up and show my support by giving these repeats ratings, AND then buying the DVD later on as well to see the extra features.
