New Edition of Jurassic Park Coming?

From Davis DVD:

"Universal Studios Germany will release a Jurassic Park: Ultimate Edition in September. We don't have a specific date or details yet, but something tells me it'll be along the lines of the recent domestic Casino and Jaws re-releases. Stay tuned as more develops."

I know this is news for a different region, but it makes one wonder if Universal has anything planned for at least the first Jurassic Park in terms of a re-release in Region 1. I looked over the "Universal in 2005" list that was circulated earlier this year, but saw no mention of Jurassic Park. Has anyone heard any rumors for R1? What could Universal do for a re-release?

Of course, perhaps 2008 (15th anniversary) is a more realistic time frame. Any thoughts?

I wont. I'm happy enough with the ones I got for this series.

I'm not going to double dip either. The edition I have now is great as it is.

I would have to see how much extras would be on it, I missed out on the Trilogy and just have the box set of Jurassic Park and The Lost World and picked up the 3rd one by itself.

Yes, each movie will be a 4-Disc set.

Disc 1: The Movie

Disc 2: Extras and special never before wankered-to scenes

Disc 3: A sweet story about how Dinosaurs once ruled this land

Disc 4: A special DVD-ROM game for 5-yr olds. You have to match the dinosaurs with their respective food source.

Oh boy, now we can hear two hours of small children screaming and whining in fully remastered Dolby Digital sound!

Wow, you're even more cynical than I am. Nice job.

Well JP4 preproduction is supposedly underway, so I'd bet it is a safe bet it will be released close to the time of the sequel as a tie in.

Plus this is Universal, home of 28 versions of the American Pie films.

I'm not sure I've ever watched JP1-3 on DVD since I've owned them...

Don't think I'd DD on these -- I'm happy with the current discs.

As with many of these titles that are being re-released on DVD this year, the studios are just preparing to release these titles on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray.

If you have any inkling of being an early adopter, like I am, buy cautiously.

My only hope for these releases is that they have corrected both soundtracks, not just DTS. The DD tracks for both Jurrasic Part and Lost World lacked such punch, I re-purchased the DD laserdiscs.

I'd bet good money that it'll be announced for R1 this year to coincide with the War of the Worlds DVD release.

I'd probably get Lost World since I don't currently have it, and maybe DD on the original if the price and extras were right.

I, too, missed out on the Jurassic Park Trilogy set (though the three movies really don't make up a "trilogy" per se), but I was never aware that it was a limited release. That sucks.

Would love to see new editions of all three.

They'll probably re-release a new box set with "new bonus features" when Jurassic Park IV comes out.

The next time I buy this will be when the HD-DVD discs street. Until then, I am more than happy with the current DD & DTS discs in my collection.

SO are they going forward with the super soldier/genetically engineered dinsoaur/Rambos in the German Castle plotline?

I can see the ad's tagline now . . . "American Pie: Ultra Deluxe Baking Edition, 28 ways to @%&! a pie."

I was browing a french forum... just find out there is a french version comming.
It's called "Ultimate Edition" however it doesn't look the same as the german version we are talking about here.
The French version is a trilogie boxset with 4disc.
that's according to this link:

I saw this playing at Best Buy on a DLP screen. It looked absolutely awful. Is the transfer not good on the current release? I have the DTS laserdisc and am content with that.
