Some MOORE tasty Bits' Rumor Mill stuff.

From the Bits' Rumor Mill for 6/13:

We've just heard from our sources that Universal is going to be announcing the release of Battlestar Galactica: The Complete First Season very soon. This is Ron Moore's new SciFi Channel version, FYI, which is already available on DVD in the U.K. (the series' second season debuts here in the States on The SciFi Channel on 7/15). We'll post all the official details as soon as they're available. Rest assured you won't have long to wait.

Also today, our sources have checked in with some tentative street dates for major upcoming titles. Touchstone's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is currently expected to arrive on 9/13. If all goes well, look for Fox's Kingdom of Heaven to street on 10/11. And Warner's House of Wax remake should hit store shelves on 10/18.

And for you Star Trek fans, look for the 2-disc Star Trek: Nemesis - Special Collector's Edition on 10/4. As many of you know, Star Trek: Enterprise - The Complete Second Season is currently due on 7/26. Star Trek: Enterprise - The Complete Third Season is tentatively slated for 9/20. Rounding out the series' release, Star Trek: Enterprise - The Complete Fourth Season should arrive on 11/1. Also... and this is something of a surprise... our sources are currently telling us that Star Trek: The Complete Animated Series is tentatively planned for DVD release in September (on 9/6). There will also be a new Star Trek: The Motion Pictures DVD Collection box set on 10/4, along with a 4-season Star Trek: Enterprise - The Complete Series set on 11/1.

Keep in mind, all of this (particularly the Star Trek: Animated Series information) is tentative until officially announced by the studio.

One other bit of Star Trek information for you: According to the Best Buy website, the exclusive Best Buy/Musicland Group bonus disc for Star Trek: Enterprise - The Complete Second Season will include the Shooting Future Tense featurette, that provides "a behind-the-scenes look at several scenes from one day's filming. It shows the cast rehearsing on the bridge and other sets, as well as the director of photography Marvin Rush prepping a difficult shoot."

Mmmm...BSG and Nemesis-CE.

Gotta find the time to get the ENT sets as well.

Hopefully the bit about the Star Trek: Animated Series is true. I'd like to see that.

Has anyone heard yet if the BG 1st season includes the pilot? Does the R2 version?

You mean the mini-series? For the R2 version, I don't think it does. It was a 4-disc set, IIRC and I doubt they could fit the 13-episodes and the 3 hour mini on 4 single-sided discs.

:grunt:Dammit. I was hoping this was Gary Moore news and maybe a new dvd of old fusion and stuff. Real tasty guitar work.

Hey, at least it wasn't Michael Moore.

I'll be picking up the Battlestar Galactica set.

Piazza 06-13-05 07:15 PM

it better include the pilot with this set... it doesnt make sense not to include it!

But the pilot is a four mini-series already available. To me it doesn't make any to include it.
I just hope they used the extra time between the release of the R2 set to put some extra features into the package.

It better not. It makes no sense to include it. It's already been released.

I will be *royally* pissed off if they try to make me pay for it again.

That's the way I look at it too. The mini already has its own release, with its own deleted scenes, "Sci-Fi's Lowdown" (when the series got its own "Lowdown"), and commentary. No reason to include it with the 13 episode season.

When the mini aired, there was no definitive news on if there would be a series, even though it ended with a obvious cliff-hanger to which would lead-in to a series. And it aired almost a year before the series started (in R1).

Same thing could be said about Babylon 5. The pilot movie, "The Gathering" was originally aired in early 1993. The series didn't start till early 1994. And like the BSG series, there wasn't any definitive word on if there'd be a series. And as the same situation with that is that "The Gathering" was not included on the Season 1 set of B5 and then later appeared in a set of its own with the other TV movies.

If the mini-seires is actually included on the BSG set, one could argue that the Farscape Peacekeeper Wars mini should be included on the 3rd volume of the 4th season Starburst Editions, but then again, people would be bitching about the lack of special features. :p ;)

What does Star Trek have to do with Michael Moore?

calhoun07 06-14-05 08:55 AM

I was expecting an announcement for Mary Tyler Moore Season Three.

Nothing. The MOORE was referring to Ronald D. Moore's Battlestar Galactica series.

The Star Trek stuff was just a bonus. :D

Dazed 06-14-05 01:31 PM

cant wait for BSG, put off getting the R2 release in favour of a hopefully better R1 with some extras like commentary tracks.

Are you aware of the "podcasts" -- commentaries by Ron Moore in MP3 form for the last several S1 episodes -- available on the BSG site?

I've had a difficult time catching BSG in any kind of order, but what little I've seen just blows me away. Hope we see this for a good price.

Oh, still don't know who the hell Ronald D. Moore is. :)

Finally...news on the BSG release. I have been holding off on buying the Pilot because I thought they might include it in the season set. I don't really have a preference althought it would be nice to have it packaged with season 1.

I thought they might release BSG season 1 before the July 15 start of season 2 but I don't think they have enough time. It would have been a good idea for those that need to catch up quickly.
