Bootleg DVD's

I'm sorry if this is not the correct place to post this thread but I just had a quick question. I am aware that it is illegal to seel bootleg copies of DVD's but is it illegal to purchase them?

BTW generally any/all discussion of bootlegs is not allowed on DVDtalk.
