Is "Casion" a Casio knock-off? Sorry, couldn't resist. Wal-Mart, Schmal-Mart. [email protected]#k 'em.

By the way, my official stance is tolerant of flippers, so I'll get this eventually.

Is it a remaster? How does it look?

Just took a look @ both the previous Casino disc and the new release and the newer disc is definately a remastered image. The newer transfer has better color sats, The colors are very rich. Namely Chapter 2-"The Truth about Vegas", opens with an exterior of the Tangiers and the colors just about jump off the screen! no noticible grain (that I could see) and its a much sharper than the first release. Nice motion menus and a trailer for an upcoming SE for The Big Lebowski! I haven't checked out side B yet but from what I've already seen of side A, this one's a winner.

Wow, you're grateful...

I also checked out two Wal-Marts. The first it looked to be sold out of both, the tags were there but no movies. The second Wal-Mart had only Jaws and it was only in FS. It's a sad day ...

Saw both at my wal mart today. Unfortunately, both were FS as well. Interesting enough, Casino has a bar code sticker that had a date of June 5th. Does Wal Mart have first dibs on releasing before street date or what?

nothing worst than a flipper... i'd rather just imagine the movie in my mind than buy a flipper dvd.

why would a distributor even think.. it even enter their mind to say "hey we will make this a flipper". aghhhh,

The only movie that should be a flipper is FLIPPER.

For those of you that have seen Jaws 30th Anniversary Edition out early in Wal*Mart....

Is your Wal*Mart a SuperCenter (groceries and general merchandise) or a regular Wal*Mart store? I ask because the Wal*Mart near my home is a SuperCenter, but very rarely, almost never, do they put out DVD releases early. Of course, in this case it wouldn't have mattered anyway. Most of them were stocking only the worthless pan and scan copies. I've got a widescreen copy pre-ordered with Amazon.com.

Mine's one of those SUPERDUPERMEGAHAPPYCENTERS where you can buy everything short of heroin (which they may also sell; I've never been through the whole store).

Mine is a regular Wal-Mart. With Meijers bing the dominant "everything" Store in the region, I can't see a Super Wal-Mart faring too well here.

There really should be a distinction as to what makes a disc a "flipper". If the movie is on one side and the extras on another... I don't think we should call that a flipper. The term has always meant that half the movie is on one side and half on the other, like laserdiscs were, or the original DVD release of Goodfellas.

Now, that being said, is the movie split onto both sides?

Saw Jaws at my regular Wal*Mart. They always seem to sell-out of the widescreens so I think they're just putting out the F/S early to sell a few to unsuspecting folks.

Went to my local White Trash Wal-Mart. Of course, both Casino and Jaws were out and on the shelf in all their full screen glory.

Taking a hint from a fellow poster, I took a copy of Casino and asked a employee if they had any Widescreen copies. They were currently putting out DVDs and they had a HUGE cart with DVD boxes. Some open, some not. I look at one open box and there is a Jaws Widescreen. Picked that up and told the girl, who seemed really new to the DVD section, that the Casino Widescreen was probably in one of these boxes. She gets a bewildered look on her face and goes through 3-4 boxes. No Casino. I tell her "it's no big deal", but I'd bet just about anything that it's in one of those boxes. Maybe if I would have came in tomorrow they would have everything out.

Anyways, don't give up when you go to WalMart. Ask an employee.

Both Jaws and Casino were $14.88.

Has anyone found it in WS today? I don't really want to waste my time, and I've asked people at my Wal-Marts for stuff and they give me bad ass attitudes...God forbid they do their jobs!

I just called my local WalMart, and they told me that they wouldn't be out until the 14th. I told them that I saw the FS versions stocked and being sold this past Monday, told them exactly where I saw both DVDs, and I told him to go and check. He said he still saw them, but only the FS versions were in stock. He said he asked the department's "movie expert" (hahahaha, WalMart with an expert on anything) and they said that they had no clue why they even had the FS version already.

Like someone else said, they stock almost 60-70% fullscreen titles yet have big displays for widescreen HDTVs.

At a Walmart in MN:
I decided to swallow my pride and do the unthinkable: ask the asian high school clerk if they have any WS in the back. The experience did not disappoint. First thing out of the mouth is "some titles are just not released in WS"...........again, clinched up all over but pressed on......."well, I'm pretty sure they went with both releases on this one"..................so naturally they're trained to think WE"RE the idiots so she checks the same rack location where I found the FS copies to see if there are any WS nearby..........wow none found (keep calm, suppress violent thoughts but so hard not to)...........so I've come this far might as well go all the way- "well can you check in back?" Audible sigh on her part "ok"......................so what she came back with was something I still can't make heads or tails of- "our computer says you would have to preorder it and it would be released on 6/14".............................I'm not sure if SHE knew what she had said didn't make sense (doubtful) but I wasn't gettin' anywhere; there would be no early Casino SE.......at least I didn't have to hold the FS copies anymore....................

Isn't there a pretty hefty fine for stores that break street date? I mean, I can see if one or two stores accidentally have a couple copies lying around. Especially if it's anime or some low exposure release. But if there's enough of this going on that an entire thread must be dedicated to it, that's kind of a serious matter.

Don't you love when you exhaustively search the racks and when you go ask someone for help, the first thing they do is check the rack. Yeah genius, I already looked there.

I love her answer that most movies only come out in Full Screen. Are you crapping me? Are you an idiot?

I almost wish Best Buy and WalMart paid a lot of money to their employees. That way I could work there and set everyone straight. Seriously, I would love to put my DVD knowledge to good use. I hate when I overhear somebody ask for a certain title and the useless employee either says, "I don't think that's out yet." (When the title is out) or "I think it's on backorder" (When there is like 20 on the shelf, they're just looking in the wrong place)
