Is anyone else having playback problems on their Masterpiece Collection set? I got 1/2 way through one of the films, and had stuttering, and then lockups on my player.

It was Frenzy. Happened about 45 minutes in, and the glitches keep happening for most of the rest of the movie

Uh oh. That one I have not watched. I'll check it out after the trick-o-treaters are done for the night.

Could someone tell me how the dvd's are set up in the keep cases? I gathered that there is about 4 movies per case, but are the discs layered over each other like the muppet show picture or what? A pic of the interior box and cases/discs would be especially appreciated. Also for anyone who doesnt have it, its only going for $69 off DDD, thats the best deal I have seen thus far. thanks

They come in individual clear, hard plastic cases with 4 discs to each case. As stated earlier, they position two discs on either side of the case, one stacked on top of the other, but elevated slightly to avoid direct contact (but not enough to insure against superficial contact). The outer box is actually pretty nice, but it would have been a whole lot nicer if they went with thinpaks or used individual hinged pages for each disc.

The discs are arranged just like they are in the Muppet Show Season 1 set.

Agreed... this would have looked really slick. (And, incidentally, made the films "rental ready" right out of the package.)

Still, putting my quibbles about the set aside, it's still the best representation of these films we have thus far (and Universal deserves praise for including the original mono for Vertigo -- makes a huge difference!) At $69, this could be the best deal of the year...

Not that I've heard of. Sounds like a defect, so may be worth your while to return for exchange.

Anyone else having trouble keeping the door shut on their Masterpiece Box? Has this already been discussed? Its driving me nuts. Everytime I look up to the shelf, its open again. I don't really want to tape it shut...

Not really. Just apply a little pressure when closing it.

I got my Masterpiece Collection when it first came out, but never really got around to watching anything from it, due to being busy with work and such. I went to watch "Rope" the other night, and ended up having problems with the disc. The image would skip during the second last chapter of the film, which led me to believe that I had just gotten a defective disc. That wasn't the case, though, as there was a relatively deep scratch in the disc.

Luckily, I was able to exchange it today, without any problems.
