Where is St. Elsewhere?
What's the deal with the non-interest in St. Elsewhere? What a great show with a great cast!
TVShowsonDVD.com doesn't even have a page for this one. I can't imagine I'm the only one who loved this show. Are there rights issues? Music? |
I was really disappointed they put out ER before this. I know ER has more potential audience, but what I mean is that this show is one of the all time classics of TV. Right up there with the best of the staples of TV. If it wasn't for this series, there wouldn't be so many other shows on TV today. I would buy all the seasons. The last time I saw it was when Bravo aired them all.

Where is St. Elsewhere? I never saw the show, but didn't it end up being in some kid's head? :)

St. Eleswhere seems to be wherever Hill Street Blues is. I'm as baffled by the absence of these shows as everyone else.

maybe it's an MTM studio thing.
hasnt there been trouble getting some of those shows out? including the now after years the second season of MTM show? my favortite show is st. elsewhere. scrubs comes close but elsewhere didnt go for the funny. i have about 3 seasons worth of eps that columbia released many years ago. they must have lost the rights because it never finished all the shows. |
Maybe it's Else...where?
*ducks* BTW, Spoiler:
|
Loved the show when it first aired and would snap up a DVD set of it! Same with Hill Street Blues, and also White Shadow!

Remember it being strange seeing Coolidge mop the floors in the hallways of St. Elsewhere (I know Bruce Paltrow did both shows). |
Did this show have an ending or did it just stop?
I watched it faithfully (life got in the way) up to where the anal retentive heart surgeons wife(sorry I dont remember names) divorced him and was having an affair with his boss. |

How awesome would a boxset be if it came with a collectible snowglobe? I'd buy that for a dollar.
Seriously, this is my favorite television drama EVER. Even if the first season was a little shaky and too Birney-centric, I'd be all over this series. C'mon! We don't let our boys get stoned!! Plus you could have a field day counting how many times they incorporated classic rock lyrics into their scripts. Usually by Dr. Fiscus. SAY! Who wants cocoa? |

I think the show had plenty of comic relief, and not with just the above mentioned people.
|
Perhaps....Elsewhere? ;)

I remember reading someone's website where they did a breakdown of ALL the shows that didn't exist if you buy into how St. Elsewhere ended. Because there was a Cheers crossover, then nothing on Cheers ever happened... which means nothing on Frasier ever happened... there was a whole chain.

I have all the shows on tape and I'm currently in the process of making my own seasonal dvd sets but I welcome official boxed sets by all means. I fear that a lot of the music will get in the way or will be removed when they get around to doing it.
I particularly liked the ZZ Top Legs parody that was done. I also appreciated the reference to Jethro Tull by Denzel Washington's character in one scene. The writing of this show was the best. |

Daniels' timing was dead on great! |
Wasn't most of the music performed by the NBC "House Band" to avoid these kinds of issues?
Their rendition of "Psycho Killer" was particularly awful :P |
I don't recall too much outside music in this show. There were a few exceptions and if clearing the rights for those songs raises the price of the set a tad, so be it. I hope that's not holding this up. This show certainly isn't WKRP or Wonder Years in terms of music rights nightmares, that is for sure.
