Finally, a date.

Universal's The Blues Brothers: 25th Anniversary Edition is due on August 30th. No specs yet.

Hopefully it'll have DTS.

This is Universal we're talking about here. It'll probably just have a new 10 minute featurette

Not that I dislike the added scenes but the theatrical release would be a good place to start.

The most obvious thing that comes to mind is a version that's not OOP.

Upgrading to DTS sound might get me interested. Otherwise probably will hold on to my current copy.

Knowing that Universal has a history of borderline improvements on these anniversary releases, I'll await the dvd reviews first. There are many, many titles currently available that are more double-dip worthy.

Will have to wait and see what they add before deciding to double dip.

Hopefully that DVD recluse Landis will provide a commentary for this.

Looks like the theatrical on disc 2 is only 2.0, not 5.1

Thank goodness the theatrical cut is coming out! See, when I was three, we bought a VCR and two movies - Blues Brothers and Raiders of the Lost Ark. I was raised on those two movies. I know them by heart. I could do a one-man show of either of them. So when I got the DVD with the extended version, I flipped out because my entire sense of timing was thrown off. I seriously can't deal with it! I thought I would simply get to see deleted scenes, not have them thrown into MY MOVIE!!!

About to type the same thing. Let's hope that is not the case.

Great news if the theatrical cut is included. But that 2.0 spec better be a typo. The whole point of The Blues Brothers is the car crashes and musical numbers. Those scream for 5.1 audio(if not DTS).

Does John Landis do commentaries? I don't think he does. I think a commentary by cast and crew would make this worth picking up
