Sometimes Fullscreen is Better

I own only one Fullscreen Dvd when I could of bought Widescreen instead. You think I'm nuts don't you? Well, Scarface is my most favorite movie and I just wanted it to fill the whole screen. Anyone else done this?

ernestrp 05-21-05 05:49 PM

1. Yes
2. No

This is a bizarre post, pretty funny though.

No good can come of this...

I just wanted it to fill the whole screen
My TV is 16 x 9. The altered version would not fill my screen.

So I take it as...you own a 19" set?

davey_4964 05-21-05 06:14 PM

I like the earlier FS release of National Lampoon's Vacation better than the WS edition for a couple of reasons.

Well for God's sake, man, don't keep us in suspense! What are the reasons?!?

I prefer the Fullscreen version of Citizen Kane over the Widescreen, even though the Widescreen version did have the DTS audio (they removed that icky mono track to make room for it) and some cool added scenes with really good CGI.

Beverly D'Angelo's breasts! With the FS open matte dvd you get to see more of them.
Hey, i did say a couple of reasons.

Hey, you asked: Yup.

I NEVER would consider wrongscreen when rightscreen is available.

bboisvert 05-21-05 06:52 PM

Ah... the T3 argument. Original theatrical aspect ratio is preferred. Unless you see more boobies in fullscreen. Then get the fullscreen. :)

AeroStone 05-21-05 06:55 PM

Crazy? No

Foolish? Without a doubt.

If you had at least a basic working knowledge of Full Screen (Formatted Full Screen and not shot Full Frame is what I am referring to) vs Widescreen..which is HOW Scarface was filmed, you would realize you spent money on a bastardized version of your favorite film.

Go out, get Scarface in Widescreen...cause despite the black bars..you SEE MORE MOVIE than in Formatted full screen...

when you get it home and realize this, you can use the "fool screen" version as a coaster to set your beer on as you happily watch your favorite movie in all its widescreen glory.

Bingo

DeanoBKN 05-21-05 07:10 PM

I hope you only paid half of what the widescreen version cost.

Squirrel God 05-21-05 07:15 PM

I only own a handful of full-screen DVDs which are non-OAR and I only own them because the widescreen OAR versions are not available, e.g. With Honors, Fearless, etc. Even though these are the ONLY releases available on DVD, it still hurt :(

The OP isn't talking about the original 1933 Scarface, is he?

Tarantino 05-21-05 07:35 PM

Me thinks this is a joke account.

He should of created a poll. By the way can anyone tell me when DDD is having their next 20% full screen DVD sale?

Ooh, does that mean all the DVDs will be 1.064:1 instead?

Premise 05-21-05 07:43 PM

When will they learn? :hairpull:

Gizmo 05-21-05 07:59 PM

Does your DVD player have Zoom? If so...why not get a WS and just ZOOM in?
