Universal really seems to be interested in releasing interesting DVDs this year. I hope they keep it up.

The date is wrong in the title: it should be 13.09.05.

Actually I believe only the Japanese have the real correct way to write dates: year/month/day, so September 13, 2005, would be written as 05/09/13 - which to me makes the most sense, as the American and European ways are both illogical.

Here's hoping for a Coppola commentary. And maybe some of the footage used in the (slightly longer) TV version thrown in as an extra.

I almost got the OOP the other day, glad I held off.

Why is it illogical for the Europeans to start from the smallest increment and work up, but logical for the Japanese to start from the largest increment and work down?

RF is an all-time persoanl fave! I've had the current disc for years...and actually saw this in the theater on it's original theatrical run.

Because the dates, when sorted automatically, fall out of order, when sorted from A to Z. Smallest increment, you mean days? The smallest increments would actually be years, since they change the least. So if you had a list of dates written the Japanese way, they would all sort correctly. The European way, the first days all the months would be first, which would screw up any chronology.

Universal has released early details on a special edition of Rumble Fish which stars Matt Dillon, Mickey Rourke, Diane Lane and Nicolas Cage.

This Francis Ford Coppola directed film, will be available to own from the 13th September this year. Retail will be around $19.98.

The film itself will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, French Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo and Spanish Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo tracks. English, French and Spanish subtitles will also be provided.

Extras will include an audio commentary with the director, deleted scenes, a making of Rumble Fish featurette, a Percussion Based Score feature containing contemporary and archival footage plus interviews with Stuart Copeland of The Police, and a Don't Box Me In music video.

Black and white with stylish flashes of color. It's a great film and a great DVD.

The new "The Outsiders" DVD is excellent too.

Why or how did this film flop theatrically?

It was such a dramatic change of pace from Coppola's string of blockbusters (Godfather/Godfather II/Apocalypse Now) because it was so low-key in comparison that it put filmgoers off. The downward slide started with One From The Heart, released in 1982.

i always thought matt dillion was too much of a punk in this movie..

Just the right amount of punk for me. I grew up with this film and it's still in my top 5 faves of all time. Saw it twice in the theater and have always seemed to own a copy of the film, one way or the other. Back in the 80's when I was in radio, I think I was the only dude to actually play cuts off the ST. It helped that I was a huge Wall of Voodoo fan! It sucks that the music vid had such crappy sound, though.:thumbsdown:
