If you notice, their is no mention of the aspect ratio of part 2 in the 'features grid' like part 1. So maybe that will be P&S only?

Another reason to wait for reviews and not blind buy/sell off your previous dvds prematurely.

They are both going to be widescreen. They already stated that.

I believe both releases are OOP, that doesn't mean you can't find them, though.

Edit: Yes, they are both OOP.

OOP doesn't mean it won't pop up new in some places...people forget to send them back...and blockbuster charges so much for new movies i doubt it was a good deal back in the day...

Dammit.

New transfers mean I'll be getting this films. I hate to double dip, but I'd do it for Ghostbusters...

Just wish GB2 had something new to it. Oh well.

These are NEW transfers tho yes? I heard not even tho they say it is.

Also...

As for the covers. I know they look ugly on the net, but I am guessing they will be reflective.

I was thinking that too. I can understand why they didnt go with the black background, so many other box sets are black and they probably wanted this to stand out. I guess Im in the minority here but I actually like the cover art. I wish they had left the logo in the title though. But I honestly think it's a big improvement over the current cover arts.

I'll stick with the first release of the original film as I have no need for the sequel, the two cartoons, nor the sucky cover art.

Really depends on reviews for this one...if the transfers are noticeably better, then I'll upgrade. If not, then I'll be happy to ignore this half-hearted release.

However, if these weren't two of my favorite movies (the first more than the second, but still), I would likely boycott this release entirely. Between this and the recent 12 Monkeys "special" edition, the studios are getting lazier and lazier when it comes to re-releases. Or maybe it's just the two worst studios, Sony (Columbia) and Universal.

Ditto...if these are remastered transfers as stated...I will be picking up both movies. The original transfers were not all that great so hopefully these are a marked improvement over the originals.

The pack contains of 2 very thin Amaray-style cases (like in the Ren & Stimpy collections), each with the same/similar 'fluorescent slime' artwork to the outer box. The glossy 24-page booklet is full of concept art, photos and bios.

My set still said 1.33:1 ratio for Ghostbusters and 2.40:1 for Ghostbusters 2.

Pictures deleted - see post #251 for full comparisons for Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II.

The new Ghostbusters II transfer is gorgeous too, so much better than the old release.

Are the extras on the new Ghostbusters DVD identical to the older R1 release? Or was anything dropped?

I am glad I sold the previous versions on Ebay for around $20. That covers the double dip for me.

Ghostbusters: The menu is identical to the previous release, just with one of the buildings now coloured the same as the packaging. The video side of the commentary has been dropped as have the trailers.

Ghostbusters II: 2 episodes of 'The Real Ghostbusters', namely 'Citizen Ghost' and 'Partners In Slime'. No trailers.
