HELP: Region Code?! PAL or NTSC???!!! WHAT???

Hi there!

I got a little problem.
I am living in germany and bought my dvd player over here.
My dvd player is a region free one.

Since I read, that some studios added this RCE to their releases I am not sure if I would be able to play US-DVDs on my german region free dvd-player?!

The users Manual says all PAL and NTSC Videos will be played....

so can I watch any DVDs?
How can I find out if the DVD is playable on my player before buying it?

I hope you guys will help me!

THANKS A LOT!

so long

Stefan.

I'm not an expert on these things, but it seems to me that if the owner's manual for the player says it'll play all NTSC and PAL dvds, then you're probably pretty safe.

But, if you want to be sure before buying dvds, you might (1) see if the company that made the dvd player has a web site or customer service number. If so, contact them and ask your question; or (2) rent the dvd titles you want to buy at a video store and see if they play before buying them; or (3) borrow the titles you're interested in from a friend or maybe the local library; or (4) if there's a computer/video tech company or service where you live, try calling them for technical assistance. Where I live, there's a service called "Geeks on Wheels" that you can call for technical assistance about computers, or other audio/video equipment; or (5) if there's no local service you can call for technical help, try looking on the internet for that kind of help; almost all web sites have a phone number or email address you can use to contact them.

Sorry I couldn't answer your question directly, but I hope these suggestions are helpful.

If it's a region-free player and can convert the signal from PAL to NTSC or vice versa, you should be able to play any DVD from anywhere in the world.
