DVD Talk Platinum Edition
I don't have a PSP, but might get one in the next couple of months. One thing that has bugged me is the prices on movie UMDs. I would never plan on building a big UMD movie collection in any case, but especially since the prices seem really high to pay for a lower resolution version of a movie with fewer extras, that in most cases I would already have on Dvd.

I saw some UMD's for $25 a pop. I couldn't see spending $25 for a bare bones disc that you can only watch on a 5 inch screen with barely mono sound. Now $5-$10 I can see if you travel a lot, but $25 is just insane.

Yeah, right now UMD Videos are pretty expensive... at least in store. If you pick them up online, you'll see better prices (still not great). Remember when DVDs first hit stores? I remember them being quite expensive, but online...

Couldn't you technically reduce the size of a DVD you already have and store it on a 1GB memory card? I know it's cumbersome....but in the long run it's cheaper than buying $20 UMD's

I highly suggest we stray away from this topic (converting DVDs to MP4s as an alternative to UMD videos). I think the PSP thread in the Video Game forum briefly discusses it.

I'd love to hear confirmation of the Warner releases. The dates are obviously incorrect since they aren't available and aren't listed on any retail websites yet. How odd would it be if the Pokemon movies were released on the PSP, to see the Nintendo logo come up at the beginning of the movie.
The list I made at the top of the page are titles that are available for purchase at DVD Empire or Deep Discount DVD, so I consider that as official as can be.

Doing a spot check on the WB 4/26 titles, they were "limited" stock and at least some of them are available via Amazon.

I was wondering about Warner. Figured they would only try to push those mini-DVDs and not release UMDs. UMDs are going to be a much more successful idea IMO. I'm wondering if Sony might branch it out into a cheaper UMD only player if the sales continue to be strong?
