It'll be in the $80 range when it releases. More than I wanted to spend, but seems worth it for the extras. I wonder if there'll be a release in the future sans extras.

If lucas refunds the $ I wasted on the uncompleted VHS series, I might buy into this crap. Otherwise, he can continue to hack up his own stuff over and over again.

Man, I sure hope they still have the 'Old Indy' bookends. My favorite episode "Deeds, not Words" (featuring Vanessa Redgrave and Elizabeth Hurley) was a perfect episode, capped off with Old Indy seeing his first love Vicky for the first time in many years. Hearing her voice in a restaurant telling her grandchildren "Deeds, not words, children", then Old Indy turning around, following the voice, "Vicky?". "Oh Indy...", then the two embrace and fade to black. It was cinematic in the respect of the emotions it brought out - just wonderful. I transfered the original ABC broadcast (as well as all the others) onto DVD years back, but the picture is only VHS quality. Please Lucas, at least have the bookends as special features!

I vaguely remember this on tv and I had the VHS release. I remember during it going didnt it have this have an old guy in between, but thought just remembered wrong. Even with that I will get this as I did not have an issue with VHS cut thou some were pretty obvious they had been merged together.

DVD Times has the complete specs up. Seven "movies" and loads of extras. Sounds very educational to say the least.
FYI, DVD Empire currently has this set up for pre-order for $64.99 as part of their 50% off pre-order thing.

God, those documentaries sound great if they're as indepth as they say they're supposed to be! I was gonna skip this release because of the edits but now I might pick them up for the documentaries and regard the "films" as bonus features.
65 bucks isn't that bad for 12 discs. And Vol. 2 comes out December 18th and Vol. 3 sometime next spring (probably right before Indy 4 comes out).
Or I could just skip these until they drop in price and watch the plethora of other shows I've picked up and haven't watched yet.

Here's my question and hopefully someone can help me answer this. I loved this show as a kid, and am really looking forward to seeing it again. And while it's an expensive set I don't mind making an investment in it if I know this is as good as the show can look.
What I'm asking is can we expect an HD DVD or Blu Ray release for this title down the line or is this basically as good as it gets? I don't mind investing in it, but it's an investment I would perfer to only make once.
It's for this reason that I've held off on buying shows like "Lost" or "Battlestar Galactica" because I know that they are essentially "HD ready" and it's only a matter of time, while something like "The Muppet Show" is basically looking as good as it can on the current DVDs. Basically, what can we expect for Young Indy down the road?
