Ridley Scott's Legend: May 31st release??

Just saw the cover art over at the bits. Anyone have anymore info on this release? Is it just the theatrical? If so, does it contain a 5.1 mix? Wishful thinking I know.

Glad to see the original art in an amaray though.

Dam I just bought the UE the other day. Oh well, not like I won't get it. Funny how that works.

DrStrangeL0ve71 04-26-05 07:57 PM

They probably just dropped one of the discs or are just re-releasing it with a different UPC/lower price.

Mr. Cinema 04-26-05 08:14 PM

And a case that isn't as shitty as the UE.

ReduxGuy 04-26-05 08:17 PM

I e-mailed Universal a month and a half ago about replacing my broken UE case and they never replied.

buckee1 04-26-05 09:32 PM

I'm pretty happy with the UE but that cover for the upcoming release is major !

Rammsteinfan 04-26-05 09:41 PM

I think some site said it was just the Directors Cut version... if you want the Theatrical then you want the UE version.

RyoHazuki 04-26-05 09:48 PM

Thats odd. There's no

"FROM THE DIRECTOR OF KINGDOM OF HEAVEN STARRING THAT HUNK ORLANDO BLOOM"

this is a dumbed down version....like they have done with the american pie disc and the like....keep those UE...and if you need it get a custom cover

Spamcola 04-26-05 11:05 PM

Thanks for the warning. It looks like the 2-disc UE is going to be phased out then.

nonametofame 04-26-05 11:17 PM

I nabbed an original 27x41 poster of Legend with that image off ebay for $8. I prefer that artwork much more than the UE cover, although the insert for the UE has the same image.

I've put off getting the UE, but how specifically is its content better than this new release, beyond the theatrical cut?

QuiGonJosh 04-27-05 06:30 AM

So they are using branching with this one? Awesome, this might be worth it, looks like the only thing missing is the documentary, and I can live without that. Plus it's in a real case and the cover is to die for! I might pick this up!

MarkAtHome 04-27-05 07:11 AM

I see that the UE was released this past February. How does this UE differ from the one I have that I bought May '02? Looks about the same to me...

QuiGonJosh 04-27-05 07:22 AM

It doesn't appear to have the 50min. (I think that's how long) documentary, which I can live without.

Cameron 04-27-05 07:27 AM

thats it....you lose the doc....

the 02.05 release date was just a price drop. it is the same UE that you own

Thanks, Cameron. That's good news to me.

OK, so no theatrical cut anymore and no doc but you get a snazzy cover. The question would be is the director's cut really an improvement over the theatrical cut...?

QuiGonJosh 04-27-05 07:45 AM

The DC is the only version really worth watching.

darkhawk 04-27-05 11:00 AM

I believe they dropped the second disk of the UE which also had the full screen version and one feature just like all the other UEs

buckee1 04-27-05 11:04 AM

Before I saw the DC I swore by the TC. After having both, I definately believe the DC is the ONLY version of Legend worth watching.

The second disc of the UE had the theatrical cut, in widescreen. There is no fullscreen version at all in the set. The second disc also had a boatload of extra features.

Yeah, but I prefer the Tangerine Dream score over the Goldsmith score. Just isn't Legend to me if I watch the Director's cut.
