Not the only one. Same here, over 300 dvds and never cared to listen to somebody talking while watching a movie. But like I said a few post, this is a great way to listen to them.

I quite often need to make longer car drives, and I've found that hooking the portable up to the car stereo and have it player over my car's speakers is a pretty enjoyable way to spend any trip. I don't feel I'm missing that much by not seeing the screen, and in some cases it helps me imagine in my mind what the director might have been thinking for a scene rather than seeing it all spelled out on screen.

I'll usually listen to commentaries while I am using my computer, since my TV is right next to my computer. Or load up the DVD in my portable DVD player and listen to commentary tracks on my way to school in the morning.

I don't recall the Forrest Gump commentary, but I hate when they let you hear 10-15 minutes of the movie. Enough for you to really get into it. Then they start talking. Highly annoying. But fortunately this seems to be the exception rather than the rule with commentaries.

I've started to record on CD-Rs for the long car rides to work....
Unfortunately CD-RWs don't work in car stereo :(

When in the mood, I usually throw one in while I'm online doing whatever. They're great for background noise and since my tv is right next to my comp I can look at the screen if need be. The LOTR comms are so many and so long that I couldn't imagine sitting down and watching the movie that many times just to get through them all.

I treat comms like talk radio now. It can be very soothing.

I keep meaning to try it at work rather than listen to CDs, but never know what movies to start with.

I did listen to all my South Park Season 1 commentaries in the car riding to work and back.

Those are my most listened to commentaries because they're hilarious and I'll play them in the car on long trips. I'm so familiar with the episodes that I don't need to be able to see them.

The Simpsons commentaries are good this way too.
