According to the info at Amazon now it sounds like it's just a repack of the individual disks, unfortuantely STILL no mention of the commentaries

# Includes The Pluto Campaign, The Hydora Campaign, The Tophet Campaign, The Tesca Campaign, The Zephyr Campaign, The Klendathu Campaign, Trackers, and The Homefront Campaign
# Four bonus episodes: Pluto and Beyond, Propaganda Machine, Marooned, Courtmartial of Lt. Razak

Well, if Tesca is remastered in 5.1, then in any case, it'll be worth the upgrade.

Clicking on the thumbnail for this item on Amazon comes up with the following:

Seems the cover may have been adjusted.

Here's the pic from the sony site... looks like they might have compressed things such that they didn't have to use dual sided DVDs. If that is the case I'm pretty sure we can say good bye to the commentaries

That's how it's looking to me... of course there's no additional info on the Sony site either http://www.sonypictures.com/homevide...396106567.html

Well, shit. Now I'm not sure whether or not to keep my order. IIRC, each disc only had five ~22 miniute episodes, which comes out too roughly 110 minutes of video. Doubling that up to 220 would put some serious squeeze on the extras such as commentaries.

I just wished we could get some definate info on whether or not Tesca has been remixed to 5.1 or not.

EDIT: Well, looks like I'm screwed anyway. Amazon has already shipped my order. As soon as I get it, I'll let you all know what the true details are. I probably won't get it until next Tuesday evening as my UPS driver has been running late in the evening lately, and I'll be at work till 7:30 or so.

There used to be a petition to continue the series - is that completely dead now?

From the DVDtalk review that is up now it looks like the commentaries were axed http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=16639 It would have been nice to have a more compact form of the series but I don't feel the need to repurchase a set that is a downgrade.

Compact is good but this is downright draconian.

Too bad about the commentaries. They were informative and amusing and brought some depth to the proceedings.

But I guess Tesca was upgraded to 5.1? Hopefully someone can eventually do an a/v comparison between the set and the individual releases.

None of the reviews I have read have mentioned anything about the "missing" last episodes. Is it clear whether or not the unproduced were finally produced for this set?

Read the DVDTalk review. It specifically mentions that the 4 bonus episodes are indeed the clip shows.

I can't imagine why they would finish the series if they can't even give us a complete package of the previously released DVDs (ie the commentaries) in this set.

Well, got my set today. Immediately checked to see if Tesca was remastered in 5.1 and it is, so at least we're getting that improvement. Of course, don't know about the PQ of Zephyr yet, but I doubt that's changed, but who knows.

However, sadly enough, doesn't look like the commentaries made it over. Instead we get some photo galleries. But then again, that's what you get when you combine two campaigns on single-sided discs.

Packaging is actually quite cool. An outer slip case housing 4 clear slimpacks, similar to the Hellboy DC. No digipak here.

Scott has updated the DVDTalk review to indicate that the Tesca eps are remastered in 5.1.

He might also want to add that the Zephyr campaign suffers from the same bad transfer the original disc had. Lots of VHS-type video noise in certain scenes.
