xXx - URDC: subpar transfer

So I got my xXx - URDC disc on Wednesday and popped it in Thursday evening. The sound is good, but the video transfer is definately NOT the previous Superbit transfer (although I haven't seen it to give an accurate comparisions), but there are some definate problems with this transfer.

First of all, the grain level seems to be a bit high for such a recent picture. Maybe it's an artistic thing because it's only really apparent in certain scenes.

But the most agregious problem with this transfer is some MAJOR edge enhancement. I'm talking white halos around things when they're against the sky. And this coming from someone who normally doesn't notice edge enhancement. So if I noticed it, it's pretty obvious.

I haven't watched the whole thing yet, (I'm about at the 44 minute mark), but I just thought I'd give a heads-up on this. When I finish it, I'll give an up-date.

Yup, its not the superbit one. Its the previous transfer from the look of things. I am happy with it for what it is. The reviews online would have told you about the subpar transfer ahead of time since the reviews were out before the release. I was surprised at the Death of Xander cage, definitely an R rated short film w/ some good music and a hot lady ;) Who were the people who had him killed? Any ties to xXx2?

Worth upgrading I thought, traded in the old one for $4, get a free ticket worth $7.50 so 20-7.50-4 = 8.50 for new edition. I only by the movie cause the first 5 mins is so cool :)

Yeah, after watching the rest of the film, the transfer isn't as bad as I previously thought. It's a pretty clean transfer after all. Just some really bad and obvious edge enhancement early in the film.

And isn't surprising that someone with the username 'Rammsteinfan' is a fan of the movie xXx. ;)

Oh, forgot...yeah, I believe the guys who had Xander killed were the same bad guys we'll see in xXx: State of the Union. Apparently the plot of the new one starts out by a group of commandos going after and killing NSA agents. This is why they have to recruit Ice Cube.

Thats what I figured, it was some kinda tie into the new film.

The new cut of the film didnt seem much different and didnt hurt the overall film.

Yeah, I just wrote a review for the disc on Amazon and I mentioned that I honestly couldn't tell ya where the footage is. I also said that whatever it is, it actually seems it helps the flow of the film, as I thought the original cut seemed a bit rushed in certain areas.

As far as it being 'uncensored' and 'unrated', the only thing I can think of is that maybe the rage dance scenes may be a little more racey.

Well from what I could tell: The part w/ the kid on the airplane talking about girls and videogames, the stipper in Vin's room at the mansion, naked girls on Yorgi's bed when he gets the call telling him about X, and I think a few scenes w/ Gibbons had some extensions but nothing major.

The movie still says PG-13 before it even though its unrate... good job on that one. ;)
