Before I bought my HD TV, I watched the first season B&W episodes and found them to have a slight "screen door" effect, even viewing them on my computer. When I saw them on the HD, set, I thought "Well, maybe the color episodes will be better transfers." WRONG! They're even worse! As much of a fan as I am of the series, I couldn't even bear to watch one episode. It's like watching a projection out of focus.

I have wasted $22/ a volume for 12 volumes before canceling. Compare that to the excellent copy of "Hogan's Heros-the complete first season" for $25!

Anyway, my only hope is that enough subscribers will cancel their series so CH will give up their rights to someone who'll do the WWW justice.

Well thats kind of a bummer to hear but I another show columbia house had control over for years was origanal tv series Kung Fu and when warner finally came out with the season box sets they were nicely done and fairly decent transfers (well atleast I can't complain compaired with low rent sets like crime story and earth the final conflict Kung Fu is a masterpiece ). Hopefully the will rework transfers and have some fun quality packaging and make a respectable box set. LOL now I abit off topic how are the "have gun will travel" are they decent quality? and do the shows stories hold up well? considering they were only 30mins long. Gods I want the WWW out tomorrow LOL

WWW Followup

As per my previous post, I forgot to mention that Columbia House also had the "Hogans Heros" series on DVD, but eventually dropped it. Probably due to price competition. So there is still hope for a WWW boxed set eventually!

FYI, there was an excellent episode guide that was published in the late 90's. It is out of print, but you may find a copy on ebay. I'll post it's ISBN later.

WWW Episode Guide

FYI, here's the ISBN for the Wild Wild West episode guide:
isbn 0-929360-00-1

Originally published in 1988, it also contains an extensive behind-the-scenes look at the people and production. Unfortunately out of print, you can find it on some auction sites.

It appears the listing has been removed. I can't find it either. I know it was there, I keep a calendar of upcoming releases I want and when they are announced I put them in my calendar, only after I see them for pre-order.

I actually found a few of the CH dvds at a used dvd store and after watching them, I guess I remember the series as better than it actually is...

It was fun to watch once but it was very dated and didn't hold my attention...

Perhaps it was just those particular b & w episodes...
