ONE DARK NIGHT dropped from Blue Underground?
Does anyone know the status of the 80s horror flick "One Dark Night"? It had been on Blue Underground's "future releases" for this year but is no longer listed...

Well looky here. Seems as if Blue Underground did lose One Dark Night and Media Blasters/Shriek Show picked it up and it's a double disc set due out November 15th. I'm sure some people will be pissed as Blue Underground probably would've done a better job with it, but they dropped the ball. I'll just be glad to have it on DVD, but here's hoping they do a better job of the transfer and extras than Just Before Dawn.

Meg Tilly looks rather sexy in that pic, btw. I've always liked her. Wonder where she went? Also wonder why her name isn't on the cover (and Elizabeth Daily's is?). Odd choice of cover art, too.

From Fangoria via Horrordvds:
August 22: Media Blasters experiences ONE DARK NIGHT Media Blasters gave Fango the scoop that it will release the 1983 chiller ONE DARK NIGHT to DVD November 15 on the Shriek Show label. The directorial debut of Tom McLoughlin, who went on to helm FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VI and numerous TV projects including SOMETIMES THEY COME BACK, NIGHT also gave Meg Tilly (pictured) her first starring role, as a student whose hazing requires her to spend a night in a mausoleum—and has the bad luck to do it when the resident corpses start coming to life. Elizabeth (a.k.a. E.G.) Daily and Adam West co-star; the disc will include McLoughlin commentary, a behind-the-scenes featurette and more. |
all I remember when I saw it in the theatre (at age 12) was how grisly and bloody the finale was (for a PG rated film). Cant wait to see this deluxe edition.

A 2-disc set? That does seem to make much sense... what could they possibly do to fill up a 2nd disc?
I actually like the cover art, although it is strange to not include Meg Tilly's name there at all. I actually watch this one every year or two, so it will be great to have it on DVD (which, presumably, will be better looking than the copy I have right now). |

Blue Underground didn't necessarily "lose" the film or "drop the ball." It has been rumored that they decided not to acquire it after it became evident that good elements were not available for transfer to DVD. This isn't the first time that Blue Underground would have ultimately passed on a title for that reason, nor would it be the first time that Media Blasters has acquired a title for which less-than-stellar elements were available.

I love the way they spell until "untill".
