DVD Release Criteria
 

Maybe someone here can enlighten me. What is the criteria for releasing a DVD?

1. Is it based on a date? I mean, if I can still buy a VHS tape of a movie--say, around 1990 release date--does that mean the is no demand?

2. Is it based on popularity? A review or collection of reviews?

3. Is there a contact where people can write a petition to have movies released on DVD?

4. Or, is there a "dartboard" in some director's office where random movies are selected and thousands of movies remain in the antiquated VHS format?
