How's My Collection?

How's My Collection? I like comedy's mostly as you can tell. I also like TV Show Box Sets, and other box sets, but I have none for now :(

I just got hired by a place and starting wage is $8.00/hr

So I will be able to buy more dvd's in time..

What else should I add?

Looks like the typical teenaged boy's collection, I guess. Congrats about the job.

why not just go over here http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=412639

What else should I add?
Since you asked:

Classics from the 1930's thru the 1990's
Oscar winners
Sci Fi & Horror titles from the 1930's thru 1990's
Westerns

Just to name a few.:banana:

Check out my collection!

Dabaomb 03-18-05 07:46 PM

I remember that you posted one of these threads with your first collection before you sold it off.

In that thread, you got flamed big time. I would expect the same thing this time.

As the previous poster said, it looks like a typical teenage collection.

Remember no matter what anyone says, it's still your collection and if you like it, that's all that matters.

SideShow 03-18-05 08:05 PM

How many of these types of threads are you going to start? Do you really need validation about your purchases and your collection? It seems more like you're just starting threads to show off your new collection, suggestions like film noirs and classic films from the 1930's seem like a lost cause if you enjoy fare like Santa Clause 2 and Freddy Got Fingered (not an insult, just trying to point out the obvious here). I could give you a ton of suggestions but you'd most likely ignore them as it looks like we don't have the same taste. The suggestions you got already ignored the fact that you listed that you liked comedies and TV box sets, so obviously something isn't clicking here.

There is already a thread basically about getting your collection looked over, if you're really interested then you should join that. Otherwise the constant thread making about "I bought 4 DVDs today" "Here's my collection" "I hit such and such mark" just seems like showing off. There's nothing wrong with being being proud and happy with your collection but if we all made constant threads like this it'd get really annoying, really fast.

The "Huff Gasoline" thread was pretty good though...

The OP, is a friggin' DVD lover for god sakes, and this is a goddamn DVD website. Who cares if he's bragging about it. This is the place to do it.

Go get'em kornboy.

However, I would certainly add more movies to your collection. When you're up to around 100, you're taken seriously. 250, you're doing well. 500+ is when you're a certified videophile. 1000+ you're a DVD God, and will be praised when you strut through the forums. :)

might try some comedy that isn't dick and fart jokes...and since you love dick and fart jokes why no Kevin Smith...Jat and Silent Bob Strike back is right up your alley.

If you want a good intro to more classic films i would check out A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese through American Movies...it is a few disc long, and you can see in clips what kind of classic you might like. Enjoy your dvd's...

TomOpus 03-18-05 08:46 PM

Since you already have the first one, might as well get the other 2 Scary Movie flicks. You might also want to add:

Not Another Teen Movie
Animal House
Butterful Effect
The Lost Boys
Mallrats

But I also agree about putting these threads into one of the ones already started.

I believe Korn has a couple of live DVDs. (I'm assuming you like the group and that's what your username refers to.)

I would recommend "Mr. Show"

I don't know about that....IMO, The Scary Movie franchise goes downhill after the first one.

He gave you the industry standard definitive thresholds (see your quote). You are still at "You're doing well".

Now make me a pie!

bballing 03-19-05 01:50 AM

Your collection reminds me of a young boys dvd collection I once knew.
He was autistic.

your collection sucks, sorry...your job sucks too...and now, as much as it hurts me to say this, but Korn sucks . Whats his face quit the band to devote all of his time to Christianity.

Well, I guess 1 out of 4 ain't bad.

kornboy 03-19-05 11:41 AM

I feel sad.. :(

SFranke 03-19-05 12:49 PM

That's nothing a little posturing won't fix. Just start posting really pretentious stuff like, "I just viewed Umberto D. How dreadfully plebeian." Or "Persona? I've seen more intense character study on LiveJournal." This will make a you real film god and we will worship you. Hard.

How old are you exactly? I was about 19 before I TRULY began to appriciate film as a whole, from all decades, countries, etc... Don't jump into the classics out of nowhere, you need to sorta slowly work your way into other genres, or the shock could be too much for you and you will instantly say you hate whatever you try out.

Good luck, but yes, you need to branch out a bit.

But that's just my opinion, if you only like comedy then more power to ya. :)

I say buy some of the "best of" wrestling DVDs if you love that stuff like I do. You can't go wrong with The Ultimate Ric Flair, Foley's latest, RVD, Chris Benoit, and all of those. I especially reccomend the Hall of Fame DVD, it's a nice history lesson if you care about that kind of thing.
