Anyone have any luck getting Matango/Attack of the Mushroom People?

It was supposed to be released this past Tuesday (3/15). I ordered it yesterday from DDD, and my order confirmation immediately listed it as being on back-order. The curious thing is that DDD has never posted cover art of it either, so it makes me wonder if it was actually released on Tuesday, or if it has somehow been delayed.

Has anyone here picked it up yet, either via B&M or online? I realize it is moderately obscure and there may not be a lot of interest for it here, but hopefully someone else can clue me in if they have any awareness of what's going on.

Yeah, check Best Buy. I was going to order through DVDEmpire but it was back ordered as well. Did in store pick up at Best Buy and it was only 11.99. Just got done watching it and it looks beautiful. Great job and great extras.

I too was going to buy it thru DVD Empire. But when it was not readily available thru them I checked BB & there it was. Was cheaper too.

I called DVDPlanet's store and they hadn't gotten "The Mysterians or Matango."

I'll try Best Buy today.

For people who have this now, is it widescreen and subtitled?

I preordered this back before there was any info, and I'd like to get in and cancel if it turns out to be fullscreen or dubbed. (Any impressions of the disc would also be appreciated.) Thanks.

Thanks for the updates. I may check out Best Buy today and cancel my DDD order. DDD is great for some things, but my experience with them on backorders is that once something goes on backorder, it stays on backorder for a freaking long time (happened with Uzumaki, for which I waited a couple of months after it was released).

Good to hear that the B&M price is comparable or better than DDD, too. That seems to be happening a lot lately, especially with these cult titles.

For those looking at Best Buy, they have it shelved in Action, as opposed to SF or Horror. And it is anamorphic WS with Japanese and English soundtracks.

Thanks! Looks like I'll leave my DVDEmpire order in place.

Read my detailed review on Amazon's product page:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...l/-/B00076ON28

No, they don't show the right cover.

I ordered mine from rareflix, because that was the site that Media Blasters pointed me to, and I wanted to make absolutely certain I got one.

(All this info is also in the "Mysterians" thread elsewhere)

Great review. I'm looking forward to checking this out. I saw it once a long time ago on a very late Saturday night/early sunday morning monster movie marathon. I don't remember a whole lot about it but I do remember it holding my attention.
