When DVD Packaging of Movies and their Sequels Don't Match..

Does it bother anyone when a movie and its sequel(s) have different DVD packaging? One example is X-Men and X2. They just don't match sitting next to each other on the shelf. I'm usually a sucker for completing the series so I get all the movies even if one of the sequels is crap (Matrix for example), but it'd be nice if they at least kind of look like a set.

I was just thinking that I just bought the Get Shorty CE, but since Be Cool is likely to bomb at the BO, it probably won't get a CE, just a regular amaray case. and that bothers me. never mind that i haven't even seen Be Cool yet.

I know I'm stresing myself out over nothing, but it might be helpful to know I'm not alone..

Look at Harry Potter. First 2 were digipaks. Consistency would be nice, especially when it's more than 2 in the series.

Anyway, it's screwy that it happens but it's no big deal to me.

Yeah, I like to have them matching on the shelf. Thank god for custom DVD covers!

Be Cool has about as much of a chance of bombing as Ralph Nader winning the 2008 election. Even with bad reviews, its gonna make a ton on opening weekend with its a-list cast.

But on topic, the Matrix ones always irked me, as the first had that blue/gray cover and the sequels have the green/black one. Die Another Day is another one, as it doesn't even remotely resemble the rest of the Bond collection (The World Is Not Enough is off also as it has white text on the spine instead of gold like the rest).

Predator 1/2 CE don't match

Star Wars are different colors (silver and gold)

JAWS1,2,3,4 don't really line up

Third Baseman 03-03-05 08:24 AM

No, it doesn't matter. I am not psycho.

:)

Qui Gon Jim 03-03-05 08:27 AM

Austin Powers.

reverie 03-03-05 08:33 AM

It bothers me to an extent, but snappers bother me more with the inconsistent look over-all of the shelf. The sequals are only really noticable upon closer inspection. ;)

Good point. The Psycho movies don't match up either.

Those are the 2 that bug me the most.

My Predator 1/2 CE's do :) (made custom cover for P1 to match P2's CE slipcover spine, now lines up perfectly)

frenchy 03-03-05 08:51 AM

The Bourne movies don't match, at least not the first release of Identity with Supremacy. I don't know if the Explosive Edition matches the second movie or not.

Sometimes TV show sets will change design from season to season making them look silly next to each other.

Big Worms 03-03-05 08:55 AM

It does bug me a little bit. I wish they all were like LOTR Extended Edition.

ShagMan 03-03-05 09:00 AM

Predator 1/2 and Harry Potter are the two that really bother me. Matrix 1 vs. rest don't really, because the matrix was repleased back in WB's EARLY days of DVD and the rest were quite some time later.

squaresoft7 03-03-05 10:01 AM

Can't believe no one has mentioned terminator yet, and lethal weapon, rush hour and highlander

Mike Lowrey 03-03-05 10:22 AM

Matrix spines don't bother me anymore as I ditched mine for the Ultimate Collection.

The Bourne movies have some matching covers on certain cover sites. I'd download them, but I can't decide which set to get.

The Predators and the X-Men are the ones that bother me the most.

paulringodaman 03-03-05 11:36 AM

hahahhaahhahah
the collection feng shui looks nice.....im a loser

pdinosaur 03-03-05 12:00 PM

not all dvd series should have this consistency. just look at hbo stuff.

we can have to have a cheat sheet to open six feet under's first season. and sex and the city....... cases that practically come pre-broken.

Filmmaker 03-03-05 12:34 PM

PREDATOR 1 and 2 don't match because the first is a Collector's Edition and the sequal is a Special Edition (much in the same way that DIE HARD: Five Star Collection has a foil embossing to the cover that the S.E.'s of 2 and 3 don't have).

das Monkey 03-03-05 12:35 PM

I used to get upset that the Nemesis spine didn't match all the other films, but putting in perspective that the film is a pile of ass, I don't seem to mind much anymore. :)

Alias, Blade, Die Another Day (compared to the rest, it's just an eyesore), and MIB are some that popped into my head.
