Dammit! This movie was still playing in 2 theaters in my area and I had planned on finally seeing it this weekend and of course today is Friday .... soooooooooooo ... both theaters took it off today for new movies ... ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Now I have to wait for the dvd! Well I am glad to see that so many people love this movie. I loved Amelie and Delicatessan and kind of liked City of Lost Children, so I guess I will buy this blind!

From Digital Bits: Warner has moved their DVD release of Jean-Pierre Junet's A Very Long Engagement to 7/12 (SRP $29.95). The title had been original slated for release on 5/24.
I figured this out when I tried to place an order at Amazon and when I went to check out it said "This item will ship around 7/11" .... I was like WTF !!!! Even though the site was still showing a 5/24 release date!
Bummer! Gotta wait a little longer to see this one ...

My wife and I watched this last night, it was awesome! This director is definitely on my "must see" list for new releases from now on.
Now if I can find a decent copy of City of the Lost Children....

I saw this last winter at the theater. Excellent flick, although not as good as his previous work. Audrie is gorgeous in it too
Good blind buy by the way Geofferson!!!

He used to make City of Lost Children and Delicatessen. These are dark movies, with many sub-plots. They are not the "feel good" movies that his most recent work is.
I really like all his work (even the Alien-detour), as all his work is visually stunning and mentally challenging. I do understand though that people who have "discovered" Jeunet thanks to Amelie might be a little surprised and disappointed in his previous work.

Really liked this movie -- much more than AMELIE. I also think the musical score by Angelo Badalamenti is fantastic. I recently saw DARK WATER (with Jenn Connelly) and noticed that he did the score for that too. It was good (the score, not the movie), but not on the same level as ENGAGEMENT.
