DVD writer ?

I'm sorry I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, But I love DVD's as well and I like to keep them in mint condition. So I just bought a DVD Writer so I can watch movies in my car for road trips, and at lunch breaks. But I noticed close to all DVD's have a copy right protection on my program I use. Now I know that these movies can be burned because my buddy has them burned, so what I was wondering is what program(software) overrides the copy right protection the best. It would be much appreciated.

Cannot discuss overriding copy protection on this forum.

Out of curiousity, what is the line between pirate and legit on this board? I don't own a burner myself, as I'm anal about having an official release. I won't even buy boots of unreleased films. Nothing to do with quality, it's just that I'm (like so many here) a bit anal.

But it seems to me that there are legit reasons for wanting to burn a copy. People with kids, for instance, burning copies so that the original doesn't get trashed, or as mentioned above, travel. I hate traveling with discs, and will usually netflix discs for just that purpose, so I don't mess up my discs.

Is it just a matter of being on the safe side, no discussion at all, or is there a "safe" way to discuss the topic?

The illegal thing is the skirting of the copywright protection on the discs. If this is done, that makes it illegal. It is safer to just shy away from all discussion of replicating any commercial discs.

wouldn't you just hate it if you scratched your copy of Salo?

On this board, copying any DVD that is copyrighted is considered out of bounds for discussion.
