If the 'average consumer' starts paying attention, the studios may just double-dip themselves into a situation where people don't buy the first release. I usually don't complain about dipping, but to do that with titles like this (just a few months out from the first release) shows that the initial ones were obvious rush-jobs just to get the DVDs out quickly.

That's fine. But studios better accept it if soon the only people buying the initial release of a new film are rental outlets. And consumers wait 6+ months either for a 2-disc set, or a price reduction on the first release.

i'm not sure these were "rush-jobs" bboisvert.

IIRC, weren't these out in other various regions even before the crappy bare bone r1 versions?

With the Best Buy Madden coupon and Fox rebate program I got all those cheap the first time. I will purchase the two disc sets also.

I may blind buy I robot, looks pretty good. I didn't like Man on Fire, and Day after Tomorrow looks fun, but I'm definitely not buying it.

I'm keeping my regular editions because I proably wouldn't watch these features more than once.

None for me, gracias.

Double dipping is getting out of hand. Like one poster said, I may just wait on new titles now unless I really, really liked it (assuming I saw it in theaters, which I rarely do).

I, Robot and DAT for me. This is also why I didnt buy the 1st release. Knew it was bound to happen after I heard that other regions had 2 discs already.

Not going to double dip on I Robot since a HD-DVD/Blu-Ray version will probably be out next year.

I already have The Day After Tomorrow but I'll certainly pick up the other two when they come out.

Me too. I'm happy with the way the current version is, especially the slick packaging. If a special edition looks cooler, maybe i'll upgrade, since its all about style over substance
