How come one of the greatest directors working today, doesn't have several films out on dvd in region 1..I know Sex and Lucia is out...


but where is the fabulous "The Red Squirrel"


Or "Lovers of the Arctic Circle"

When are these movies coming to dvd in a decent release.

Tierra and Vacas are out on DVD in R1, courtesy of Vanguard. I own a copy of Tierra and the DVD is not very good, about VHS quality, in fact. Anyway, I think it's OOP now.

No kidding. I loved Sex and Lucia, and even that film has gone OOP (the unrated version, that is...the edited version is still in print). I've wanted to see "Lovers of the Arctic Circle" for the longest time.

I'm not sure if SEX AND LUCIA is actually out of print. Tower Records/Video stores are having a sale on Palm Pictures DVDs and I've seen tons of Unrated SEX AND LUCIAs all over the place.

TIERRA is my favorite Julio Medem film by far, but the Vanguard R1 DVD is a travesty (like many of their releases). The subtitles are burned into the print and there's a nasty glitch on the disc about halfway through.

...for the same reason Bigas Luna is nowehere to be found in R1 (with a hacked Son De Mar release)....no interest by the (semi-)majors...mostly New Line's international department (together with FineLine Pictures).

I own all R2 versions but Vacas...and Lovers...is horrible picture-wise.

DVDAF has it listed as OOP, and Amazon isn't selling any more new copies.
