Brazil: Criterion Collection Question
 

Ok, I've seen this listed in a couple different places.

Some places have a grey/black cover

Some places have a blue/pink cover.

Is there a difference? I know the blue/pink set is a 3 disc set? Is one better than the other?

Please advise, because I'm thinking of picking this film up.

the blue pink cover is the criterion....the other is either, pics of the inside covers which has some gray content....or pre release art that never came to surface, but many websites may have it listed.

also note that it is not an anamorphic disc....it may get a re-release...but since disc 2 and 3 are full frame anyways....it may only be disc one that gets rehashed.

There is only one version, and it is a 3-disc set. The first disc has a black and white cover with a color logo. There is also a see-through blue slipcase that holds all 3 discs. Some sites show the cover of the first disc, some show it as held in the slipcase. Same thing either way.

It's a very good transfer, even though non-anamorphic, though I think the contrast levels are a bit high (surprising, as Criterion is one of the few companies that's so consistently right in this regard). If you have a player that will play all-region/PAL discs -- and don't mind giving up the phenomenal extra features in the Criterion set -- then you might consider picking up the R2/PAL (UK) version. It's nearly the same cut (only very minor differences), and the anamorphic image is IMO a nice step up from the Criterion. Plus, it's fairly cheap, even with the shipping charges.

Ah. That makes sense. Amazon shows the black and white cover with colour logo.

If you look on the bottom left of that graphic, you can see the indentation on the blue slipcase that allow you to pull out the individual discs. The actual black and white cover is visible there.
