On top of that, its from the "world broadcast" with different announcers, and of course, its in fullframe (what I wouldnt give for a 16:9 DVD of the CBS broadcast).

Thank you! Finally someone who knows what I'm talking about! :)

Yeah, the 95 minutes is the NFL Films stuff + the "highlight broadcast". NFL released 12 DVDs last season...one for each playoff team. For the non-Super Bowl teams, the disc is around 22 minutes...for the Panthers and the Patriots, its 95.

Im also one of those people that, although I love the NFL Films stuff, would love to have the original broadcast, start to finish. Im a completist freak, so Id want all of the pregame (well, not all of the 4 hours, but stuff inside the stadium), halftime, postgame, etc. I recorded the game with an HD tuner card, but for some reason it recorded in MPEG2 and not a transport stream, so Im having a hard time figuring out what the hell to do with it (not that I cared about this years game that much, but it would be cool to have).

Shannon, et.al., I popped the DVD in my player this morning and clicked on World Broadcast. I feel rather foolish. All this time I believed it was the game in its entirety as originally broadcast. While I suppose it's nice to have every play, the edits are so abrupt (despite them trying to smooth them out with too-quick covers shots of coaches looking on), that it really does become annoying to watch after only a few minutes. My apologies to all for spouting off information before I had fully done my OWN homework. I will still continue to get these, as I LOVE NFL Films, and actually record NFL Films "Game of the Week" on NFL Network and burn to DVD, but I, too, am now disappointed that these aren't the games as they were televised and join my voice in saying that I would love to have those as well.

I popped in my copy of SB XXXVIII last night to refresh my memory. The World Broadcast extra on mine was in full WS and looked great. Also, for replay value, I actually PREFER having all of the plays with the timewasting huddles edited out. This makes for a more enjoyable rewatch without all of the dead time. Most of the edits were pretty smooth, and they did include the occasional instant replay and between-play comments. It feels a bit like an accelerated speed but every hike and tackle is in there. Personally, I think it is perfect for replay value to get all of the action.

I also thought it was funny that the world broadcast had metric on-screen player stats, including height in cm and weight in kg. $^) Plus a bit more explanation of the rules and options on many plays.

Are you absolutely sure it was widescreen? I admit I have the Panthers DVD rather than the Patriots/Super Bowl DVD (it also contained the world broadcast as well though, and I would assume its the same exact version). I know I would have been a little more satisfied with the DVD if it had in fact been widescreen.

I do not believe for a second that it was widescreen. I have Superbowl 38 and picked up 39, and they both say "Standard Version" which really irritates me because the game was filmed (for NFL Films), taped (for Fox broadcast) and aired in widescreen, so there's really no excuse why we couldn't get an anamorphic widescreen DVD of these games now.
