Back in my squalid VHS days I ordered what I thought was the video of the Beatles' "Help!". What arrived was a DVD. I sent it back and got an exchange. How I regret it. Later I re-bought it for $$ on eBay.

The only title I've done this with is LOTR-FOTR TC. I bought the title when it was first released back in August '02. Then when the EE came out in November '02, I decided I would give the TE to my sister for Xmas. But then when the TTT-TC came out in '03, and I saw that the plastic keepcase was red, and thus the case for FOTR was green, I decided to rebuy the FOTR-TC along with the TTT-TC. I also decided that because the extras were different from TC to EE, that it was worth it to rebuy it.

Needless to say I also have the ROTK-TC as well as all three LOTR-EEs. Hey, call me a completist...

I gave up a bunch of discs to an ex-girlfriend during a 'psuedo divorce' and rebought a bunch of them later on.

The Big Hit is one that comes to mind...

Big Trouble in Little China

I sold it a few years ago before it went out of print and just never got around to buying it back. God I miss that movie. Still crossing fingers for a better release.

I routinely do this as well. My cost of buying DVDs is so low that it makes for an inexpensive gift that is easily replaced.

Only once with the Matrix. There was an anouncement of a special edition awhile back and I thought well it's upgrade time so I sold it for $9. Find out a week after selling the disk the special edition was cancelled. My first reaction to that news was not good. Bought it back for about $10-12 a number of months later (just before the first sequel was released) and got a free movie ticket inside for the sequel. So all-in-all I didn't do bad in that deal.

I did this with MY BLOODY VALENTINE. I'd heard about the movie for years and picked it up cheap when it first came out. Watched it and thought, "eh." So, I traded it away to someone on this board. Then, Halloween rolls around and I'm looking over my extensive horror collection thinking, "now which was that movie that took place during winter? Had that scene in the mine?" Oops.

Got lucky, though. While trading in a bunch of movies during Blockbuster's $8 deal, I found a mint copy that someone else had traded in. Scooped it up and now it's back where it belongs, on my horror shelf.

Gave Ocean's 11 and Behind Enemy Lines away but bought it again a year later during some 2 for $15 sales.

Forgot to say that I also donated the barebones Pearl Harbor to a friend and got the 4-disc director's cut when it came out.
