Is there a chance of lesser known Disney Animated films getting the SE treatment?

Movies like:

The Rescuers
The Rescuers Down Under
The Great Mouse Detective
Oliver & Company

Do those movies have shots at getting the 2-disc Special Edition treatment? Or any other smaller films.

The Rescuers, for one, is practically a SE already. And most of the two discers are only that way because they include BOTH FS and WS.

You must be thinking about Pixar because all the Disney SEs have widescreen. They have 2 discs because they come w/ more extras.

Not as great as them making a plethora of sequels until their image and future brand is forever tarnished in your mind.

It's Disney, if they think they can make a profit from it they will do it and then it will go back in the vaults so you must buy now.

I would like the obvious ones like SONG OF THE SOUTH AND SO DEAR TO MY HEART, but my biggest wish from Disney is the short BEN AND ME.
Just my 2 cents worth.

I would doubt it. "The Rescuers" is the most popular title in this bunch, and when it was released on DVD it was hard to find in stores... in fact, I had to buy mine online. It would be nice to see this movie as a two disc release though. It was a film that restored faith in Disney animation after "The Aristocats" and "Robin Hood" and was the next to last film to feature any animation from any of the Disney's Nine Old Men. I believe this was Ollie Johnston's last film and he's the only animator from the golden era of Disney still living.

the rescuers was pulled first week because of a scene in a window containing a half naked woman....it was rereleased a few weeks later to little fan fare. I have no way of telling which one you recieved, but can say unless you recieved it on day from a B&M your probably got the corrected copy.

I think you're wrong about that .... the VHS version with the half naked woman in the window is out there, but I believe the dvd version never got released. They caught it just before it was supposed to come out and then had to delay the release a few weeks to fix it. No DVDs ever were released with the half topless woman .... I don't think ... because I am going from memory

I did a search on ebay and no "re-called" rescuers dvds came up either

I recently bought both Rescuers films, from department stores (Walmart and Zellers- a Canadian department store). I used to love them both, as a kid. The Rescuers Down Under is a pretty basic release, only containing a few extra features, but the movie itself looks good. I believe the Rescuers DVD is better, with more features, but I haven't watched it yet. I'm just glad to have been able to find copies of them, but Walmart had a few copies of each.

Many of the 2 disc releases are including stuff that was released on the LD release back in the day (like Pocahontas will be soon). Is there stuff on the LD's of those titles that hasn't hit DVD yet?

Wasn't Jungle Book added to the Platinum line? I know that there were 4 titles added, but I can't remember what they are. I think that a SE of Jungle Book is inevitable. Hopefully they can use it to promote a Season release of Talespin.

I heard something about that, but with HD-DVD anf Blu Ray coming, I don't know about them anymore. After Bambi and Cinderella, there's suppose to be 101 Dalmatians and The Jungle Book.

Any word on rereleases of The Little Mermaid, Lady and the Tramp and Pinocchio
