Though many people have problem said it and dozens more most likely will, I'll say it anyways: Excellent, and about damn time.

Weird that they're putting the Lux Radio Theater production on its own "audio disc" and treating it like a major extra for the deluxe edition. Fox and Warners normally just throw them on the disc with the movie because they're a cheap and easy extra -- most of them have fallen out of copyright so there're no royalties involved.

If anyone is wondering Greer Garson is Bogie's co-star on the LUX Boardcast.
Hepburn did very little work on the Radio.

just to repeat the release date of this is 3/23/10, maybe a mod can change the titles of the thread.
Hope this date holds now, looks like it will at least be released very soon. This is up for pre-order at Columbia House now too.

I noticed Oldies has a region 0 version I have never seen in their catalog before...you guys clearly follow this title's travels and probably already know of it but I thought the timing was funny.

If anyone is paranoid like me this is going to be on TCM Sunday night. I don't care how close the release date is, I'm recording it and keeping it until I have a DVD in my hands.

Congratulations to NoirFan! His quip was quoted in the Washington Post.

At long last, 'The African Queen'

More than five decades since its release in theaters, and after years of queries and complaints from classic movie buffs distressed by its absence from DVD, it has arrived. "The African Queen" -- John Huston's beloved 1951 adventure about a gin-tippling boat captain (Humphrey Bogart) and a prim missionary (Katherine Hepburn) careening down a Belgian Congo river on a barely stable boat -- finally makes its debut today on DVD ($19.99) and Blu-ray ($26.99).
The first, most obvious question: What the heck took so long? Or, as a fan once eloquently put it two years ago while posting one of the many incredulous comments found on online DVD message boards: "I can't believe that 'Garbage Pail Kids: The Movie' is available on DVD, but not 'African Queen.'

So, the 2nd disc in the limited set is just an audio disc? If so, I can skip that overpriced version and just get the 1 disc.
I'm surprised there isn't a review here at dvdtalk yet. Anyone actually have this?
