Which "Eternal Sunshine..." edition if I have none?

Just wondering if the 2-Disc CE is indeed worth it if I don't have the first incarnation. I read the reviews and mostly pan it because of the first release already and not too many extras on the 2nd, but what is there seems interesting.

Can anyone enlighten me further before I make the purchase? Thanks.

Well, basically, if you don't have the first one, go for the CE. If you already have the first one, you better be a ginormous fan of the film to get the CE. Me? I'm, well, a ginormous fan of the film.

Later.

If you have not seen it, you may just want to rent it. I did not really care for it. Sold my copy because though it was well made, I did not forsee me watching it again.

I'm wondering the same thing. The thing is, there are alot of bargains with the original version for 10 bucks. In that case, should I get the original?

There's a sale for Eternal Sunshine: The Regular Edition for 9.99 at Circuit City or Target I think.

That's enough for a blind buy. It's got enough features really.

The single disc has DTS and DD 5.1 tracks and anamorphic enhancement. What else do you need to watch this?

that really doesn't make much sense considering the 2-Disc does as well.

It's part of the 2for20 sale starting Sunday at Circuit City. I have both and if you're a big fan of the movie get the two disc. The single disc is a great presentation of the film.

thanks. so the 2nd disc is worth it if you really enjoyed the movie, huh? i always find when i like something a lot i want more of it and the 2nd disc of extras seems like it would fit me just fine.

Basically if you want more extras, get the CE. Otherwise save $$ and get the single.

I'm a big extras fan so I'm tempted (and yes, Mr Cinema, we can all read your sig, so why post it in every DVD thread )
Having said that, and as much as I loved this film, I can't really justify paying almost three times as much for the exta disc (though deleted scenes might tempt me, especially seeing Jim Carrey's old girlfrind). I'm hoping to find the CE cheap.

3x as much? It's at most twice as expensive as the standard version.

The packaging could be another factor. I'd rather have the full cover art than the shrunken-down picture with the border around it. Or is it just a slipcase? If the CE comes in a digipack I'd rather have the keepcase of the original edition.

OK,
Price of Regular Version this week at Circuit City $10

Best Price Available for Collector's Edition (DDD) $23.39

So that's 2.34 times as expensive.

However, if one figures in the possibility of buying a previously viewed disc at Hollywood Video using a Buy 1, Get 1 Free coupon, it could essentially be had for $7.49, making the Collector's Edition 3.12 times as expensive.

Since you're talking used vs. new, then yes that's possible.

Actually, the best price available seems to be from DVDSoon at $ 21.59 shipped.

For $19.99, I'd probably bite. I took in a recent 25% off coupon to Borders in hopes of getting the CE annd they wanted $29 for it. Yikes.
