Best DVD of January 2005

What did you think was the best DVD of Janauary 2005???

I'm not only talking about the best film released on DVD, but the best overall presentation... film, video, audio, extras, etc.

Geofferson 02-01-05 09:44 PM

Voted Leon.

Maybe this poll should be changed to "favorite" DVD, as that is more likely what people will pick.

Anyway, I voted other. I think by far the "best" DVD of January is :

The movies look soooo good + great commentaries.

Beat me to it by minutes. :) Noooooo contest. Perhaps the OP can get this DVD set added because without it it ain't much of a poll.

Plus a double/triple dip title like Leon needs to be really special to warrant votes. It isn't.

TNAJason 02-01-05 10:25 PM

It comes down to Fifth Element:UE vs Predator 2:SE.
Great Movies,Great Picture,Great Audio,Great Extras. Hmmmmmm....
I'll get back to ya.

Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster

Rockmjd23 02-01-05 10:44 PM

For the low price and great picture quality and extras, I'll go with Beastmaster Divimax! -biggrin-

PopcornTreeCt 02-01-05 11:24 PM

I'm the other guy that voted for Leon.

Sky Captian. Surprisingly good flick, great extras, wonderful transfer.

asianxcore 02-02-05 12:05 AM

out of those choices, another vote for Leon: The Professional

RevKarl 02-02-05 01:35 AM

Another vote for Warner Bros. Gangsters Collection, by far the best and most important DVD release (IMHO) of January, and very likely to be on many "Top Ten DVDs of 2005" lists at the end of the year.

That has my vote for best release of January.

island007 02-02-05 02:09 AM

Another vote for Gangster's collection.

etrnlevol 02-02-05 02:11 AM

Another vote for Warner Gangsters Collection.

Although I really did enjoy the new Leon and Fifth Element editions. Both would be a close 2nd if I could vote for more than one.

matome 02-02-05 07:51 AM

Leon

bdots48 02-02-05 08:16 AM

One vote for Criterion's "Casque d'Or" - an amazing presentation of a Becker classic. (Already had the region2 Fifth Element or that might have been it)

Filmmaker 02-02-05 08:37 AM

1) FIFTH ELEMENT: Deluxe Edition
2) PREDATOR 2: Special Edition
3) PRINCE: SIGN "O" THE TIMES [Canadian Exclusive] (not because the DVD is loaded, but just because I was starting to think this title would never see the light of day!)

jfrost 02-02-05 09:02 AM

Here is an update on write in votes:

Warner Bros. Gangster Collection - 7
Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster - 1
Casque d'Or (Criterion) - 1
Bad Education (Pedro Almodovar) - 1
Beastmaster (Divimax) - 1

Predator 2 (Special Edition) got a couple of second place votes... but no first place votes as of yet.

ianholm 02-02-05 09:04 AM

Another vote for Leon followed by the new SE's of Predator 2 and The Fifth Element

LorenzoL 02-02-05 09:11 AM

Another vote for the WB Gangsters Collection Boxset.

bboisvert 02-02-05 09:27 AM

Gangsters Collection box. No question.

jdpatri 02-02-05 09:52 AM

It's all about the Gangsters, see.

Spiral Staircase 02-02-05 09:59 AM

Warner Gangster Collection

If I had to pick a single title from that set, I would pick White Heat.
