DVD Database/organizer software for MAC
 

Hi all, not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I'm looking for a really good software title for the Mac computer that I can input and track my DVD collection. I used to use DVDProfiler for the PC, but over Christmas switched to the MAC.

I'm hoping for one that can handle hundreds of DVD's (best would be thousands) and allow me to organize them, rate, and select if they are currently borrowed. Also, would like something that can publish my collection to the web when needed.

i use DVD Manager because it only does exactly what i want -- downloads a picture of the cover, allows other regions, can organize by director and year, and will publish a webpage. but you probably want something a little more robust.

I'm not sure if it includes everything you want, but it's a pretty slick program. If you have an iSight, you can use it to scan barcodes to enter your collection. You can also input your book and CD collections.

Barcode Scanning would be a VERY nice addition...Maybe I'm gonna have to break down and get me an iSight now ;-)

Well, one more to add to your list to try: DVDpedia

The Readerware software suite includes a fairly robust DVD/VHS organizer. It runs well in OS X and has a good export to palm function available. The suite also has book and CD collection apps. It is not freeware, but I find it to be the best for me.

The delicisiou-monster product allows you to use your iSight to act as a barcode scanner. I just saw a demo from the guy that sits next to me at work and it really did a good job!

Delicious Library is still pretty iffy when it comes to imported films. I ususally have to hand-enter anything that's not an R1 disc.

thanks for all the suggestions. I downloaded them all and fell in love with Delicious Library. I don't watch many movies from outside of the US, so shouldn't be too much of a problem for me. Now I just need me an iSight so I don't have to type in my 500+ disk collection.

Tom, I'm in the same boat as you. Although I haven't purchased it yet I think I'm going to purchase DVD Database X. It has some pretty cool features, most notably a amazon.com lookup that even pulls up a DVD cover picture if you want. Check it out at: www.valencio.com.

I emailed them to see if any other web-cam would work. They said it should, but they don't like to post that b/c some may work some may not and then they would get tons of emails about it.

The demo is free, so if you have another webcam, it would be worth just trying it out.

It's free and it's excellent. It didn't take long to enter my 500+ collection. A search function is hooked up to Amazon's database, so it downloads the pertinent info and a cover pic.
I was surprised at how good this free program is.
