i'm looking for ways to jump from dvd to dvd without having to manually switch the discs. and if this were easy, someone would have bloody figured out how to make a dvd player join dvds together so that we don't have "continued on disc 2" endings of the lotr:ee movies.

There is a reason why they have the film on two disc. It is clear that they can't fit the movie on one with all the extra's commentaries and keep the same picture quality.

Why do you think that you can possibly do it yourself?

either that or I have no idea what you want to do? Copy it to your PC so you can stream it altogether from hard drive?

Tough shit, deal with it. Imagine how you would be reacting if VHS was still dominate. fast forward, rewind.

I was just using "backup" (in quotes) as a euphemism for any and all questions asked on this forum, countless times, on how to copy DVDs, regardless of the purpose for doing so. Again, if a disc is copy protected and you find a method of copying it, you are technically breaking the law (DCMA) regardless of why the hell you are doing it. And because of this, and their relationships with the studios, DVDTalk doesn't allow discussions on how to do it discussed here. How can this be made any clearer????

I have a solution. Wait until HD-DVD. New Line may fit all of the LOTR:EE editions on one disc. :up:

you can call it censorship or whatever else you what, but I'm closing this thread. There is no point in debating this, and it just turns into everyone arguing with each other..

I haven't had time to read this entire thread but perhaps I can provide a bit of insight. There hasn't been a restriction on just talking about the issue of copying DVDs, but providing information on how to do it is not allowed.

Unfortunately, as been discovered time after time, some people just cannot control themselves and for some reason must provide links, techniques, names of programs, etc. instead of staying within the permissible limits of discussion.

Since this happens every single time the subject comes up it creates a lot of work for the moderators and just plain becomes too much trouble for us to have to watch over.
