Open Matte or P&S?

Is there a site that sells DVDs that lists which it is? the movie i want to know about is only available in FS and I was thinking about making my own WS versions vy cropping them down if they are open matte. I can't find the info on IMDB. And no i don't own the DVD yet, i want to know before i order.

Usually, retailers will only list if the films are "fullscreen" or "widescreen" - not the original aspect ratio delineations.

It's best to simply ask if a film is open matte or p&s in its current incarnation. Which film?

Well, it'd help if you'd tell us what movie you're referring to.

99% or more of 1.85:1 films are shot full-frame 4:3 and masked for theatrical projection. The DVD is most likely open matte, however there may be specific shots or scenes that are cropped if, for example, a microphone was visible at the top of the frame so they couldn't open the top matte.
