Northern Exposure: Season 3 coming 5/10
Over at tvshowondvd.com, they are reporting that Universal has given a 5/10 release date to Northern Exposure: The Complete Third Season.
The big news is that this full 23-episode season is being given the same MSRP of $59.98 as the two previous NE releases. (No mention if this one is also wrapped in a parka...)

Heheh, I was wondering if they were going to keep up with the parka theme...it seems like it might get a bit expensive. Dont' get me wrong tho, I love how it ties in with the show.

Yeah, but what should have happened is for Season 1 and 2 to have been released as one set for the same MSRP...Thats what most other studios would do (see Family Guy, Dallas), but Universal wasnt going to pass up an excuse to ask for $60 for 7 episodes.

Before Northen Expsoure Came out, I always figured that the First two seaons would have been packaged together, and I would have paid MSRP or $60 for that 15 episode set, but there is no way I will pay that for 7 episodes.

Hey I think its well worth the price season 1 and 2, as they are such excellent series and people pay more than that for a single film, so why not a full series which is far longer than a film. For me no price is too high if I love the show, but I guess I do waste cash on lots of stuff, if I didnt love the show I definalty wouldnt bother .

This is great news that they're putting out the full season in one set and not raising the price. I'll cut them a little slack now for the high MSRP for seasons one and two. My main concern at this point is them cramming too many episodes on too few discs, resulting in crappy transfers. The pristine transfers of the first two sets have been their saving grace.

I'm not going to give them any high marks for not raising the price.......I didn't really expect a higher markup now that we finally get a FULL season this time around.

not raising the price for the 3rd season just amplifies the rip off of the first 2 seasons. the first 2 seasons should be combined, without a parka, for the same price as season 3. unless of course season 3 will have much less original music and hence the price point.

Just ordered Season 3 for a very cheap price, the same price as I paid for season 1 and 2, so good job too.
Info here on the dvd specs and the Box too

The parka packaging has been ditched for season 3, and it appears Universal is trying out a new style of packaging for this set; the slim case. That's right, this 3 disc set will be in 3 slim cases, with an outer box to hold them.

Guys I've been checking out the 2nd season on DVD, actually watched the whole thing. Then I went back and checked the versions that aired on TV. Sure enough they put elevator music here and there, which totally sucks. Check out the Spring Break episode on Season 2, during the party at the bar they are playing the most generic music, but on the actual version, it's really good caribbean type music. Ugh... That's just one example.
I won't be another season again...
