I have about 200 DVD's that have cost me a total of about $1450. I'm averaging just over $7 per DVD lifetime, so I guess you could just look at my DVD list for under $10 DVD's.

Absolutely. I had to do a triple take when I saw the low price for this 2-disc SE of one of the great cinematic feasts of all time. $7.78 at DDD now. No excuse not to own it.

But wouldn't a problem with sub-$10 DVDs be that many of them either already have better versions out, or could have "better" versions coming? Better as in special/anniversary/collector's/director's editions, with improved video and audio and new extras.

When it comes to movies like The Lost Boys and Purple Rain, sometimes I still see the older releases out for sale. Maybe the stores should be required to advise the consumer that there are "better" and newer releases for movies like that.

There are probably several movies I would like on DVD that are cheap, but I'm holding out for a new release.

That said, some I got for $10 or less (some being "special" editions of some sort) include:

American Werewolf in London
Body Double
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
First Blood
Footloose
Independence Day
Indian in the Cupboard
Jaws
Prince of Darkness
Pump Up the Volume
Running Man
Somewhere in Time
They Live
Total Recall
Tremors
Lawnmower Man

Yeah I guess it would be. But I didn't post this in the Bargains forum because there isn't any specific deal here. And good call on Once Upon A Time In The West.

The Smokers. Trust me, if you get it, you won't regret purchasing this excellent comedy.

The Fox Studio Classics can be found for just under $10 on many websites.

And I'm surprised nobody has mentioned RAVENOUS yet.

All of these can be found for less (some significantly less) than $10 at ddd in editions that feature good audio/video. All great stories imo as well.

Talented Mr Ripley
Any Given Sunday
Glengary Glenross
Italian Job 1969
Italian Job (new one)
Jaws
The Perfect Storm
Day of the Jackal (non-anamorphic but still a good transfer on a small screen)

A few that I bought from DDD during the 11/2004 sale. I think these all have some merit of course YMMV. I believe the regular price at DDD is under $10 for all of these

The Ice Storm
Repo Man
Ghost World
The Elephant Man
The Nutty Professor
The World of Suzie Wong
Chinatown
The Wind and the Lion
Fantastic Voyage/Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
A High Wind in Jamaica
I Married a Monster from Outer Space
Used Cars

sorry for any repeats

All these you list, and no mention of Somewhere in Time? That is one of THEE best, imo. (I love 12 Monkeys, also.)

Happy Accidents is also a semi-unknown gem.

Also, Sliders the television show, which is now on DVD. (Although, that's a dimensional travel, as opposed to time travel. Before it got canceled, they were talking about going in to the future).

And there's Quantum Leap (on dvd). Great time travel stuff.

Now when in the hell are they going to release Voyagers -- that show with Meeno Peluce (sp?) and Jon Eric Hexum?
