A friend of mine has told me that they show episodes of the Smurfs on Saturday afternoon on the Fox Seattle KOMO station. Might be the best thing available if you have the station until the DVDs are released.

what i'd like to know is what is the contact info for hanna-barbara? they have no webpage or email and i can't find their address anywhere. it's not on the official smurfs webpage either (the email listed there has been dead for years). is any contact info listed on any of their dvd releases?

they need to release all smurfs episodes in season sets. that's 9 seasons of smurfy goodness! it'll never happen though.

That's because they don't exist anymore. Hanna-Barbera was purchased by Turner, which was then purchased by Time Warner. HB was subsequently merged with Warner Brothers animation (corporately at least), but really became Cartoon Network Studios. Hanna-Barbera doesn't exist as it's own entity anymore. It's used for marketing and occassionaly in certain shows (the new Scooby show used it in the copyright), but that's about it.

I think there was a smurf with the smurf. Therefore the smurf for not releasing the show was that there was a smurf.

Some players sold in the USA are "region-free" if you find the secret menu to activate them, AND they have to have PAL-to-NTSC conversion built into them. You would think these would be more expensive, but actually they are usually "cheap" players like the Cyberhome 300 ($35-$60 at places like Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Radio Shack). A disc from Australia (Region 4) won't work in it until and unless you activate the special code, though.

As for "Australia only"...nope, try Canada! (French-language only, though! )

“First of all, Papa Smurf didn't create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel's evil spy with the intention of destroying the Smurf village, but the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her. And as for the whole gang-bang scenario, it just couldn't happen. Smurfs are asexual. They don't even have reproductive organs under those little white pants. That's what's so illogical, you know, about being a Smurf. What's the point of living if you don't have a dick?”

I've watched some of those episodes on Boomerang... they seem really chopped up. I hope if we ever do get boxed sets, they don't stick us with those versions.

Gargamel's a wizard and HE can't find them!

Seriously, though, moorehed, if you get WRDC-TV (UPN Channel 28) from Raleigh, you can see the Smurfs Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7am, as part of The Incredible (?) World of DIC. (Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century airs Thursday & Friday) We have the same three-days-a-week deal in South Central Iowa. It's no DVD, but better than nothing.

Anyone else searching for the smurfs (or any show) in your area, go to

http://www.tvguide.com

input your zip code and other info, then put smurfs (or other program) in the Search box at the top of the page.
