With all the controversy over DVDs being released with "substitute" music, I am curious if Scrubs will be released with the original music used during the original airings.

Scrubs seems to use so much music that, while watching the episodes when the aired years ago, I thought, "There's no way they'll be able to afford all the music clearances when this comes out on DVD."

Does anyone know anything about this? Perhaps newer TV series have DVD music clearances built into their contracts since the producers learned their lessons from previously released DVDs (like Northern Exposure)?

If I recall correctly, that isn't an issue on the newer shows. It was only a problem with older stuff because they hadn't anticipated the DVD/TV show "revolution".

I'm looking forward to seeing this released because I never watched it when it first started on tv and thanks to tv on dvd Ive become hooked on a lot of shows. So I imagine Im really going to like this one from what Ive heard people say about it. After seeing Braff in Garden State I cant wait to see him on the show even if it is going to be a bit of a wait.

From TVSHOWSONDVD.COM:

Scrubs - Season 1 Street Date!
Posted by David Lambert
1/17/2005

"Turk" told me this was coming, and now we have an Amazon.com pre-order listing for Scrubs - Season 1 on DVD.

The offices of Buena Vista seem to be closed today for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so we can't provide any information beyond what the Amazon tells us. But the online e-tailer says the list price is $49.99 for this box set, and they'll sell it to you for a mere $34.99 for a 4-DVD set. The release date is May 17th!

Stay tuned, folks, and we'll be back with more information about this just as soon as we possibly can. Our thanks to reader Emily Holder for making sure we knew about it...I spotted it on my own just a couple of minutes before her e-mail arrived!

Same here! I'm also hoping to free up the shelf space. My home made ones are taking up too much room. Though if the music is changed, I'll be keeping both.

Bob, ever visit the cover forum? I'm sure there are plenty of people that would love to see and or get their hands on the whole cover set. Looks good from the spine. Post some more images in "cases and covers" forum.

This is IMO one of the funniest shows on TV these days, I laugh at every episode from JD to Elliot to the janitor.

I am trying to find out whether I'll like this show. Any good reviews out there? How about comparisons to other shows (if such can be made)?
