Some BATMAN SE DVD news! (10.18.05 expected release date)
Straight from the BATMAN ON FILM site this morning...
Update on the earlier SE Bat-film news from earlier today. A source contacted me and said that Tim Burton recorded his commentary tracks for both his Bat-films while he was working on Wonka. No re-cut of the Burton films, but there will be some work on the soundtrack. However - and this is the part that I really dug - Schumacher is doing a re-cut of BATMAN FOREVER as it will be an extended special edition. Schumacher recorded his commentary tracks while working at Pinewood Studios (PHANTOM)....
So it seems all 4 films are getting the SE treatment. No director's cuts of any of the films, but hopefully there'll be deleted scenes as extras. Not a big fan of Forever, but if Schumacher added some fo the darker stuff that was cut out I'll be sure to check it out.

I'm now officially jacked. I only plan on picking up the first two, as I feel the second two blew pretty hard. I was only nine when the first one came out, but I do remember the hype around it. Hopefully there will be some great extras. Thanks for the news, and a release date can't come soon enough.

i just hope the first movie has a documentary talking about the merchandising for the film...so much bat stuff in 89....
I feel the same as most...the burton films are better than the Schumacher films...however none of them thoroughly impress me anymore....hope some good docs follow. Prince videos....all the Joker commercials...utility belt overview...
and finally an excuse for those bat nipples.

I imagine the commentary by Schumacher for B&R would be quite similar to Kevin Costner's for The Postman on that one Simpsons episode...
"I'm sorry. I'm really, really sorry."
Just repeated over & over again throughout the film.
I'm not sure what kind of work is being done on the Burton film soundtracks, if it's just improving the sound quality or is Elfman actuall altering parts of it? Interesting. I hope the Burton commentaries involved some of the actors as well!

I was just watching the original the other night (it's been my favorite movie since I was a kid) and I was thinking what a great thing it is that it's getting an SE treatment. The current edition is just terrible. I'll be getting the first two for sure.

I'm looking forward to the release of these dvds. I liked the first three movies. The only thing I liked about Batman & Robin was Alicia Silverstone. I had a big crush on her back then when I was in high school.

I'm onboard for the first 2 but unlike Robocop if I had to and the price was right I guess I'd buy a box set of all 4. I would not be happy about it though. I'm glad I didn't replace my first 2 Batmans after Hurricane Charley in the DDD 20% off sale as I was really hoping for anamorphic SEs.
